Is 18 too young for a 30 year old ?

No it isn't too young, don't be ridiculous. Why should it be? As long as you find you have enough in common with her, it shouldn't matter at all.

The challenge I have is being able to relate to girls under about 24 (I'm 38). I anticipate that as I get more confident and experienced, that problem will fade with the rest. I expect you'll find the same

At the moment I find around 25-26 to be about ideal, but you're quite a bit younger than me... I don't see why 18 should be a problem.

I remember my dad had a business card from his barber and it had a story that went like this.

"If a young woman wants to date an older man that's her business, if an older man wants to date a younger woman that's his business . . . if you flip this card over that's my business."

Ultimately, it's all about how well you guys get a long and interact, it's nothing I haven't seen before. It's not uncommon for me to see it in the cities I've been too. I agree with Marty, go for it and don't let doubt hold you back.
