Is instant messaging a big part of socialising now?

Considering the fact that people are more dependent on social media and instant messaging, If you aren't good at instant messaging, how negatively will it impact you? Do you need it in order to be able to maintain relationships with people?

I suppose it also begs the question of how obsessed are we in general regarding social media in the first place? And how much results regarding socialising (seduction or otherwise) is influenced by non-face-to-face interaction?

I would say it depends on how old you are, but that for anyone under-30 or so, yes it is. That's why we have Hector with his texting tips, why we had Colt and his Tinder program, etc. As far as needing it to maintain relationships, the relationships it is needed for are the superficial ones with people you'd otherwise only see perhaps once a month or so (i.e. not people everyday). But it still pays to get good at social media, which is not something I'm glad to admit, as I personally am pretty bad at keeping up with it.

Do you guys think Snapchat is needed? I don't have one, and get a lot of weird reactions from people for not having one, I just usually tell people I don't like it.

Oh ok. Thanks bra. It makes sense

Oh yeah, I have noticed that people who don't see each other in person somehow still have a strong bond (as compare to their relationship with me). It probably was because they stayed in touch digitally. Thanks man.

I'm not sure. In my area, a lot of people dislike snapchat. The hype for social media sort of ended with instagram, facebook and whatsapp. And I'm only on whatsapp.

Thanks for the epiphany man :D
