Okay gentlemen I want you to deeply scrutinize and judge my new haircut haha.

I am interviewing for sales internships the next coming weeks and I thought it a good idea to get rid of my long hair and get a more professional look.

Here is a picture of my medium/long hair:

I miss it greatly :'/

So I got a shorter hair cut and the look I was going for was professional and masculine.

Instead I would describe it as modern, rather boyish, and neither professional or masculine.

I'm going back in today to get it touched up to hopefully get a more masculine look to it. However I really don't know how I might can achieve this so I wanted to consult you guys to get your thoughts on what could be done to achieve a more masculine look.

How would you go about touching this haircut up or revamping what is left of it to achieve a more masculine look?

1) You should pick a hair style that is trendy and stylish that you are comfortable with.

For example I used to have a hair style that everyone liked, but because I wasn't comfortable with it, it interfered with my vibe.

If this isn't something you like, pick a different style.

2) Facial hair is the way to go. What you already have is really good, but if you add facial hair you will most certainly look more masculine. Even if it's a five o'clock shadow, go with it.

In my opinion, the whole long haired romantic hero thing is sort of a myth. I think most women find long hair to be greasy and child-like. That's why I rock out medium length hair with the proper style.

First off, that's not bad! Honestly I'd just let the top grow out more and style it up.

As for normajean, I disagree on the long hair quip. I have long hair and always get compliments from dudes and girls alike. My best friend is the same thing. It's only greasy if there's a lack of care, and in certain subcultures you can even get away with that haha. As for child-like, that's totally dependent on how it's styled and your mannerisms with long hair. Of course if a dude isn't masculine, speaks in a voice that isn't dialed and gets pushed around through life by reaction to other's emotions, yeah he's gonna seem child-like. But if he's got things going on in life, voice and fundamentals handled, it's the complete reverse. Plus you can tie long hair up for a medium effect at certain lengths.

I feel like the "hero" myth is something that comes from short to medium length hair, no? Save for Thor haha, but is Thor child-like? ;)

Sorry had to defend myself, but I'd go with something shorter on the sides maybe. And Norma is right, a little facial hair would help a lot, unless you're like me and can't grow any. :(

I personally think it looks good, but I'd get another opinion since I haven't experimented with short hair and I'm not a business professional haha.

Rob,

In my humble opinion you look WAY better with the current length than with the longer hair, it seems to fit your face shape much more appropriately. Not that I'm a professional on face shapes or what have you.

It's also way more congruent to the vibe you have in the two pictures with the blazers.

If you could try to add a little more volume to it by blow drying and combing it into the style you want and adding gel after(if you don't already). Maybe it's because I just watched Deadpool but I think going a little longer(on the sides) toward the typical Ryan Reynolds look would be solid for you.

Depends on the girl. Chase rocks the long hair these days and gets great results with it and I always had girls telling me how they liked my hair. Certain girls dig it certain girls don't.

Thanks chief, yeah I guess a lot of my angst came from shell shock of not having my locks anymore and my brain didn't want to accept it haha.

Agree with both of you and yeah it's on the way. Just happened to take both of these pics when I was shaved ;)

Cool deal! Yeah I think once I get over the shell shock I'll rock it no problem and perhaps better.

Good tip Ryan Reynolds is definitely doable and he's a pretty masculine yet clean cut dude. Great point out. I also get a lot of compliments that I look like Justin Timberlake so I might try and do something like this

Yeah. If you're going for a professional look, it's always good to have the clean cut thing going on.

I'm not a big fan of gel, as it gets too hard for my taste. Blow dry into the shape you want, then apply pomade/hair wax. I would go for the matte version, rather than shiny, as the shiny look can be very greasy looking.

Definetely the shorter one of these two! And matte wax for short hair is something I agree hundred percent. Owning a bit longer hair than you did in the first place and I'm getting a ton of compliments from women. Also just as an idea for future, if you consider cutting your hair from long to short, you could just first try to style it radically different.

Rob,

I've always thought the long-hair look works best with facial hair (think Chris Hemsworth [a.k.a. Thor]). So if you're going to rock a clean-shaven look, I actually like the shorter hairstyle on you better.

One word:

Man-bun.

Get it. Trust me.

But, yeah, man, that second haircut fits you 100x better than the first.

Hector
Can confirm. Been rocking the top knot for ~6 months, them bishes love it.

I'm letting it all grow now because I'm going for the full bun. Unfortunately, I have not been gifted in the facial hair department; the only thing I have decent hair thickness is on my chin, which is already at clip #2 at the moment.

I think that for the man bun to have any positive effect in your attractiveness scale, it's imperative that you (general you, not you you, Rob) wear the persona the man bun requires (facial hair, muscular, raw and well fitted clothes) or you risk looking like a hipster and not a strong, masculine men.

That said, you'd still have a couple of months to work on it as your hair grows. It took mine ~6 months, but my hair grows abnormally fast. I reckon it will take 8-12 for most people. Pro tip: beanies are your friend in the meantime.

Fox! You are fucking rad dude!

This was a phenomenal response and I am going to implement this shit soon on my next hair cut.

Thanks for taking the time to do that with pictures.

I don't usually pay compliments to guys based on their looks but damn Rob, you're one handsome man! (no homo)

You fit the look that so many girls in America go crazy over. Keep the short though, looks better than long.

That's cool, the new look is so much better. By the way, how do you upload photos to threads? I've tried but I can't seem to make it happen.
