Went to a little community fundraiser in the neighboring valley on Saturday night. Like 50 people there. Mostly retired senior citizens. My parent's friends. Felt a little self conscious being there alone but people I knew from the community kept stopping by to chat. Got the phrase that I will still get, even in this gossipy community. "Where is your family?" Had to reply "with their mother this week. We split up last year." I guess after 20 years it takes a while to percolate through the grapevine.
So after the dinner I walked over to the only bar in this little one street village to have a beer, and the only seat is next to this blonde girl about 15 years younger than I. She's wearing sweats and a stocking cap so she's not out trolling for dik obviously...And I am not hard up for female attention, as my girlfriend was sending me pictures during the night...
But I decided to just kinda see where this would go...wondering if I could get her to give me her number or obviously hook or somethin. I was totally playin' catch and release.
Long story short she knows the waitress/owners family and was there picking up a to go meal for her brother, and her sister had a date that night. She is drinking a beer and having some soup before she goes back with the meal. We had the whole "Do we know the same people?" conversation, and we did...We had some banter going pretty good when she orders a shot of Jameson. She drank it but did not look like she enjoyed it. I was amused. I took this as a sign she wanted to have some plausible deniability if things developed.
At this point I wanted to see if I could blow her out. So I went for broke. Made a comment about her blonde hair and asked if it came from her heritage. She laughed , and pulled off her stocking cap to show me her roots and said "No, I'm a hair dresser"
So I immediately make a comment about "whether the carpet matched the drapes" and she fired back that "there wasn't any carpet" My Reply...."Hardwood floors are cool...." then she started talking about her sister's landing strip that "looked like a Hitler mustache". At this point the waitress starts getting in the conversation. Looking back, she was cock blocking...She never offered me another beer, or brought me a bill. Which could have been to delay me.
Not soon after, she got her to go food, and the waitress was whispering something in blondie's ear. If I had to guess it was to acertain if she wanted to go home with me. I think we were both playing with each other with no real interest unless the other was....I was not going to make any effort whatsoever. Blondie gave me a big hug and headed out. I closed out my 1 beer tab, gave the waitress a buck tip, and drove home with my amusement for the night.
Had I wanted to try, at the point when she drank the shot, I would have told Blondie "Why don't I pick you up in an hour, after you take that food home and change into some evening wear and we will have a good time tonight?"
