I have done this, but let me warn you, i have no idea if there are more than one side effects to this, because there's one failure.
I believe some people call it training your brain, but i don't think so. Anyway so let's go into what i "mechanically like" two hobbies, that i become reasonable success. I am still doing it now. Football(Soccer) and Dance. Basically what i did was to ask myself what i wanted to achieve, and rewarded myself every step that i go. Additional to that, i keep reinforcing my brain how it would be fun to do this. "It will be fun scoring that goal". "It will be enjoyable to meet new people". After some time, i don't need to reward myself because i love it. So let's dive onto Soccer first.
Football(Soccer),
Your environment is what can make most of you. I was born in a family who love soccer. I honestly never really like it, never was, but i tried it, and it was fun but then that was it. A year or two later, at 15 years old, everyone starts doing it, and since i was in school, i wanted to be a part of the group. NOw let me note the reward was to be part of the group. I decided to take it seriously. I started saying to myself how it will be fun to score the goal, how to beat the defender. Coupled with that, I was terrible at first, People never rely on me very much. SO it makes me want to prove myself. With what i called "mechanically like" the sport, you can call it mental conditioning if you want, I convince myself, practice, watch video, learning. i manage to play well within 6 months. I became intense, and within a year, i became good. Two years, i went to National finals in a futsal 3 on 3 competition, where 50 teams meet with the incentive to travel overseas to play football(soccer). I still love playing it till today.
Lesson learnt: Environment does plays a part. Negativity can spur you to be a better skillful person, there's also resentment you have to clear up, because of the negativity from it. Ego clashes here and there.
So yea, i have been playing soccer for 9 years.
Dance
Prior to entering school after i finish my National conscription, i wanted to be good socially, and with women too. I feel like it was 2 years of study before i got off to working time. So i really needed to make this time, at least this lots of free time. I join a dance club and i keep telling myself the fun to meet new people, and i did. I tell myself i learn something, and i did, and i meet a whole lots of people, including girls, and of course some harsh realities, of involving in women politics. I still like the psychology and sciences of Women, and i would not say my success with women is something that is i desire for achievement level, (because i want to be as all rounder), and even if it did, Process is Forever.
Aside from that i learn a lot of psychological stuff, social, sales. Valuable stuff this journey along the way.
So my dance has reach 3 years, and Social Psychology or Dating and Psychology with Women is about 8 years. I would say my dance is good, because in year 2, i singlehandedly manage and choreograph 6 high school students to dance infront of then President of my country while still studying and working, had projects too!. Still had fond of memories.
Now....
Let's go on to what didn't workout for me. I tried "Mechanically Like" Food n Beverage Industry, and it didn't work!
I just could not like it. I think the thing about the job industry was that the reward was less appealing, and rest time was lack. SO i believe rewarding is important to "mechanically like" something until it has become a part of you. I was getting praise though, by my superiors, and they were upset when i left. They really do. I must have really disappoint them but i couldn't force myself.
LEt me summarize what is important for "Mechanically like" something to work.
1) Reward (at start, has to be consistent, it's very important)
2) Persistent and reinforce the positives in the first 6 months of the job, work, career, sport, whatever.
Let me know your opinions. Thanks
Zac
