Socializing MF set, strong IOIs, how to open smooth?

Hi fellas,

Had this situation last weekend. Was at nightclub karaoke section, sitting at semi-VIP table with two friends. Best of second-best dude to sing there and a good looking chick. So, some social proof right there.

At the bar was a sitting a MF couple, seeming to have a very good time as well. I was sensing some pretty good IOIs from the chick but was wondering if it's genuine or just amping herself up for attention. Anyhow, I decided to check it out. Walked past by, eyes locked with the chick for a moment for very strong eye-contact. On the way back 5 min later, she not seeing me coming, I tap on her shoulder, she looks, I've already walked past by and look back, she is now looking 180 degrees in my direction with that kind of a "you're a scoundrel smile".

All that time she was sitting there with a dude. Who would I open that set in a smooth and calibrated way?

Hey Rakkum,

I would go with the ussual indirect comment about the venue “jesus that guy is singing so terrible haha” (karaoke venue right?) then proceed with “you guys seem like cool people” “where do you know eachother from”. 90% he’s an orbiter.

Follow with small talk and cold reads/ intrigue… A bit more attention to the guy in the beginning to disarm him and make the girl chase a little, then make a bubble with the girl.

Looks like your preopening game is on spot, so I think you could go semidirect/ direct as well.

That’s how I would do it, just some ideas, hope it helps…

Address the obstacle first. Establish their motivations for being there and you can predict their reaction to you interacting with the target.

Regardless of the sexes of the people involved...

If the target is truly interested she will interject herself into the conversation. by not going straight for her you create a n opportunity for her to chase.
If the Obstacle is going to mateguard or Mother Hen, they will show it right away. Words like "wife", girlfriend" "fiancee" will crop up ASAP.
If the Obstacle isn't really an obstacle, they become an ally and you now have social proof with the target.

If the obstacle becomes rude and difficult, while you remain friendly, they look like the asshole which may change the dynamic between the target and obstacle. You then determine if the Juice is worth the squeeze.
