Hey everyone,

It was an interesting day at school today. Sitting in class, my friend that is a girl came in and she is full of happiness. I could tell something is up. So I had a brief conversation with her and found out that she went out with a cute guy last night. Later on she showed me a script that she is going to perform. Its a Epilgue written by Eve Ensler "Manifesta to young women and girls" You guys can search it on the web or go http://brokenmachine.tumblr.com/post/1028904845

While reading it, I started laughing at the irony of what is written, let me know if you guys find it funny too. She started asking me why I was laughing, and I couldn't help but keep laughing. She said "you are laughing because you find it true." I did not respond and continue laughing. She was slightly surprised and a little annoyed. She started saying I am a misogynist, and telling the whole class "Stingray is such a misogynist" a number of times. No one responded though, everyones doing their own thing. I looked at her shrugged and turn my attention away and laughed again. Well the whole time, I could sense that she was saying in a sort of playful tone or a rather exaggerate way but I could be wrong.

Well anyway, it was my first time hearing this term, so I asked her whats the meaning. Afterwards, it made me think am I really misogynist or is she just feminist? I read up a bit on misogyny and agreed that yea, sure I'm sexist in my mindset someway or another like guys are more dominant and girls are more submissive. However does it make me a misogyny? It made me think a lot because then where do you draw the line between a misogyny and a guy that loves women? Because both of them have the same mindset and are against feminism.

What do you guys think about this whole situation?

Stingray,

I can understand why she reacted in that manner. Whether you agree with her or not, you laughed in her face about something she clearly cares about. I would be offended as well, especially because you didn't respond to her question. She felt you were mocking her.

On misogyny, I think the differences come down to the internal drives and motivations.

How do the differences in the sexes cause you to view women? Do you simply see them as different, beautiful, silly creatures or do you see them as inferior, stupid, vessels for your cock.

Do the differences allow you to appreciate or make you resent women?

From a outsider that doesn't understand the why, there is no difference.

At the same time the word is a label created by feminists' to make men feel bad, and I personally don't believe in labels or boxes.
