Two primary and interrelated motivators of peoples' actions are money and prestige, which are both types of social power. I've been thinking about my relationship to these today, and I realized that my values are becoming more and more money and prestige oriented, having become more conscious of their utility as of late. For most of my life I was unaware of the class spectrum in societies (Is this common? How class aware are you and when did you become aware? Are rich kids typically more class aware than poor ones?). The main point of this thread is to learn what other peoples' relationships to money and prestige are, and to see the different ways that they motivate us to undertake one action over another. So if you're interested or have a few minutes, please share your relationship to these things (simplify, of course, as it's probably very complicated)?
Cheers,
Oskar
P.S. If anyone's noticed, I've been rather inactive on the forum lately. This is because I moved out to the mountains, so I haven't had much of an opportunity to meet people. It's nice, I get to focus more on other things. Writing, building another online business, hunting, stump shooting, yoga (my neighbor does yoga in her yurt, and it's a wonderful spiritual experience. Makes me feel more in touch with my Nordic stock. Now I'm a bit of a snob though... I see most studios as a joke. Guess what they say is true: once you go yurt you don't go back.).
