Hey Folks,
Anyone of you feel self conscious about their hands while stopping a girl in the street? It something that get me struggling because I don't know how to place my hand : should I keep them next to my body? should I keep moving them like when doing a presentation?
Anyway, the objective is to appear comfortable and in control. So how do you manage that?

Try being relaxed man, a great way to be relaxed is building up social momentum beforehand. As for what to do with your hands, I tend tk visualise it as if I were a European (foreign to me) dude who is naturally very hands on with people he speaks to - in the context of advice from this site such as placing you hand on her elbow and keeping it there on her arm while you two talk.

Try not pay attention (especially don't look) at what you're doing with your hands unless it's context specific like palm reading or some bs like that - most of the timetry not to look. Also, practice on people you're more comfortable with, just being a cool dude who naturally breaks the touch barrier with people. Younger Guys in Cambodia are pretty good at doing this in my experience, if you wanted a travel example.

Hope my hasty reply helps bro

yeah I see. But how not to pay attention, maybe finding a default position for hands will be fine. Now i'm trying to breakdown hand movement of people giving talks in TED, I think it is the same setting as talking to a stranger
