We all know by now that women are not rational beings. The woman who says she wants a “nice guy” will inevitably fall for the jerk/player. A woman’s carnal instinct for men who display authority and can acquire resources will always outweigh the downsides of dating them. They will stay even if it’s against their best interest.

This article is a great read. It talks about how women openly say they like guys who are manipulators (because they can use this to gain success at work). The most promiscuous women had the strongest attraction toward narcissists.

Its no more irrational than men preferring younger fitter more sexually attractive women over older more stable and sensible women. When it comes to mating we are all back in the cave man-days. Religion and society keep this in check throughout most of our civilisation's history but with the advent of feminism and online dating and breakdown of marriage, we are back to a hypergamous free for all.

I guess the high self-esteem and the resulting confidence boost is almost universally attractive.

On the other hand, I doubt a woman who is very perceptive both socially and emotionally, would find a highly narcissistic guy very attractive, especially if he unaware of it. But... flipping things around once more, if the guy is self-aware and he can display these seemingly conflicting polarities in the right way, he'll have that powerful Byronic aura.

It's very well established in the scientific literature that dark triad traits, narcissism psychopathy and machiavallianism are all universally very hot to women. This most certainly should not be a surprise to anyone with extensive experience in interacting with women.
