Recently my parents invited some very old, good friends to stay with us for a few days. I'd only met them once before. And hey ho, turns out they have a daughter my age. And hey ho, she's very cute- great prospect, awkward setting

One evening the girl and I go out for a walk to leave the adults to themselves. Now this is new territory for me, in the sense that I'm by default more connected to this girl than to most other ones due to our parents being friends for so long. It's not like I can just take bold action and cut my losses if things don't work. This caused me to proceed more slowly, out of fear of making things awkward between our parents (this girl has an open relationship with her parents, like me, so it wouldn't surprise me of she gave them a resume of any events). So for the evening I stuck with deep diving and refrained from almost all flirtatious innuendo (overly safe?), with a bit of light teasing every so often.
Funny observation- my brain must've been conjuring up all these factors that it diverted my attention from my vibe, and I came across with an overly serious expression throughout (genuinely barely any smiling ). This very rarely happens and I don't know how big of a turnoff it was to her; other aspects of the interaction were fine except for me coming across as a moody cookie
I'm texting this girl now and she's investing a fair bit into the conversations so we shall see (she's the type I'd take as a girlfriend so I'll keep the ball rolling on this one)
Now, I'm by no means suffering from oneitis over this girl or anything, but it's interesting to be confronted with an atypical scenario with a bad precedent for seduction. Would be interested to hear any experiences of similar tricky situations and any advice in general.
