Non-Empathetic Girlfriend

Hey Guys,
How is the girl supposed to support her guy in a relationship??? I mean.....how is a girl supposed to behave towards her guy during his times of failures???? Is she supposed to be very supportive or coddling or is she just supposed to be neutral towards him???? What kind of support should a guy expect from his girlfriend towards his life goals and when he fails/falls in life???? Can a relationship be normal with a girl who shows very little/low empathy for her guy?

We all Fail. Winners and losers. The winners just try over and over until they win.

If you are waiting for her to be supportive you are doing it wrong. Be the guy who is worthy of support. Show your potential, and catalog your past success. Build on that.

However don't let her drag down your expectations of yourself. If she appreciates your successes then that can work. If she discounts them, then it is time to move on.

Remember as a guy your "value" as a provider increases as you get older. You have more options the older you get than females do.

Then it comes down to whether you require her support to do what you want to do.

The fact that you have an issue with it indicates it is important to you.

So either you discontinue the goal for lack of support, or lay down a ultimatum of "give me support or GTFO". You should be able to enumerate what constitutes "SUPPORT" (ie, verbal encouragement, interest in the project/goal, asking how the project is going, assisting with logistics of the project etc.)

There are a lot of goals in life where people in your life are indifferent to whether you succeed or fail. Most work colleagues couldn't give two shits about your passion outside of work, so long as you get your work done. You can't give up on that because it doesn't matter to them.

This lack of empathy seems to bother you though. Better address it.
