Other men being condescending to you and talking down to you when you're happy?

So I noticed a situation where I was a new guy in a class. I was cheery and outgoing with everyone. I noticed that over time, guys started to talk down to me, acting condescendingly, and engaging me through the 'aw, you're such a cute entertainment' lens. Has anyone experienced this? And how do I combat this?

I'm trying to be genuinely be outgoing and be social and I get a response of condescension and getting talked down to.

What's causing this? And how can I fix this or combat this?

in my classes i never talked to guys unless i really had to. my strategy would be to get the hottest girl in the class, or even just a cute girl, to like me and then the guys would gravitate towards me. and from there i could control the situation. this is pretty much how i made most of my male friends i realized recently.
