Provocation and power

Will a woman sometimes show interest in a man to provoke him to hit on her, so she can reject him and flip the power balance?

There are some but it is fairly rare. I think it's more of a validation on her part than anything else. It's happened to me once or twice, I just shrug my shoulders and walk away. It's really too uncommon to stress over it much. And depending on how the interaction goes down, it can be an interesting, and often funny, story to share later.
