Calls & Texts Receiving angry texts from girl @ Work

About to head to class, but this morning I wake up to an angry text from a girl I work with accusing me of spreading the rumor at work that we slept together. We did, indeed sleep together, but I haven't been spreading the rumor, nor do I care if she is mad. However, I'd like to ask what you guys think is a good way to respond to angry women? I think I know a pretty good answer which was reflected in my response. Basically, I told her that I wasn't spreading the rumors and that she shouldn't be making bullshit accusations at me; Basically just keeping a powerful frame while trying to diffuse animosity. Any thoughts?

I don't have too much experience in this particular department, but if it were me, I would take a powerful frame (like you suggested) but keep your text calm and controlled. For example, something like this would probably suffice:

Sara, I'm not sure where you heard this information, but I have certainly not been spreading rumors around the workplace about us. If you'd like me to, I certainly wouldn't mind helping diffuse the situation and get to the bottom of who is doing this, but if you continue to accuse me of something that I am not doing, then I won't be able to do that. If you'd like to talk about this calmly over the phone or in person, then please let me know. I'm sorry if this is causing you any emotional distress.

If she continues to accuse you and ignores your offer, then I would probably just ignore her and she might eventually settle down when she sees that it's not a big deal to you. If she continues to cause a commotion, then she is risking her own job, and that is her decision.

I have to agree with Franco on this one. Earlier this year I had something similar happen and when she tried to make a big deal about it I didn't bite, neither did anyone else. Nobody seemed to really care besides her
