I personally enjoyed the seduction spotlight articles alot, ive always appreciated fictional character development as i like to apply it to how it could play out in real world scenarios, and i like picking up on these guys body language as i think it is also applicable. One particular character i think is worthy of the website is Dennis Reynolds from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If you are unfamiliar with the show, it follows a group of characters who start up a bar together and follows their descent into madness over the years, Dennis in particular goes batshit over the years.
Early on in the show, hes depicted as a playboy, someone who was solely driven by pleasures of the flesh, and it works As his character gets older, girls start picking up on his sleeziness, and he becomes significantly less succesful and his already frail mental health takes a toll. There is even an entire episode dedicated to his seduction process "The D.E.N.N.I.S system" where it focuses on his courtship of a a local pharmacist.
D = Demonstrate your value: He forges prescriptions for his grandma, showing an empathetic and nurturing side that doesn't actually exist
E = Engage her physically: he takes her on a date to a place he knows will be closed, suggests grabbing a pizza and heading to his place as its close, and knowing his roommate will be sitting on the couch so he can isolate her to his room.
N = Nurture Dependence: He calls her anonymously to threaten her, she calls him for emotional support and protection
N = Neglect Emotionally: he ghosts her, uses the fake call to scare her again, but this time doesnt come to her aid.
I = Inspire hope: in the episode he goes to her window and gives her a "i was scared to commit" spiel and then proceed to make up sex that is emotional for her as she believes shes locked him down.
S = Separate entirely.: This is self explanatory.
Now,the steps are clearly manipulative, as he shows he complete lack of empathy for anyone. Keep in mind, i do not think his particular character should be modeled after like a Oberyn or a Ted Mosby, but rather could be turned into a cautionary tale, how to keep progressing as a seducer. This show is also a satire, so i believe making fun of guys who think theyre super good with girls but dont quite get it could teach some people in here a thing or two while keeping it light so they dont need to take it so serious. Just a passing thought i wanted to share, if there's any fans of the show on the forums feel free to comment, if theres any other characters some board members would like to see written about, we can discuss them in here too.
