Hello all, I'm writing in hopes that I can gather your thoughts, opinions, and wisdom from your past life experiences on how to go about my next step in life.

For those that don't know I live in a tiny city (100,000 ppl.) and it sucks for game and networking (very unambitious for the most part).

I want out... ASAP.

Options:
A.) Finish two year AS business degree by the end of the year, move, try and land a job with that... doesn't sound very promising.

B.) My dad has told me he would put me through 4 years of college (a bachelors degree) and then I could get a 4 year in business (I'd specialize in marketing most likely). I would be able to pick any University of my choice. Thus I would be able to get out of this city, and the college experience doesn't sound that bad ;).

However I don't really have a desire to work in the corporate world and make a career out of being a marketing person desk jockey.

I really want to create a niche in self development industry (not pickup/seduction necessarily) once I garner more experience and get more on my purpose, say 5-10 years from now (once I get my social/dating life on point).

I don't know if it would be worth the investment to get the degree if I don't really want to use it (though it certainly wouldn't hurt).

C.) Go AWOL on this place, move to either Jacksonville, Orlando, or Miami and get a job in sales (something I am interested in... sales = get paid to polish social skills = more on my purpose [I love social dynamics]) and make something happen.

With this option I don't have much option out and no excuses (I thrive when I burn the boats) so It's either make something happen (get good at sales) or fall flat and have to catch a greyhound back home and start anew.

Anyone that's in/has been in sales want to chime in that would be awesome, I'd love to pick your brain a bit as well.

I've talked to successful salesmen that I know (family friends) and they have all told me to go with option B since I have nothing to lose and it would make me more marketable in the real world no matter what I do.

I can always go into sales once I get the 4 year degree and then I have something to fall back on no matter what.

Thanks for reading your thoughts and opinions are much welcomed!

If your older and have been here I'd love to know what direction you went and what you might do if you were in my shoes.

Thanks a ton,

-Rob

Yeah, definitely complete a 4-year degree program in a subject that you are interested in if your parents are paying your way through. It might feel a bit like you're not 100% certain on your goal, but it's much better to figure out things while still working through schooling than to sit around with a minimum wage job.

I'd highly recommend UCF as a college to transfer to after your A.A. It's a big campus with a bustling night life, and it is definitely the place to be in Florida. I've been thinking about transferring and getting my Masters there ;).

Hey Rob!

I feel ya, man. I live about 15 miles outside of a similarly populated small city (~110,000 people).

There's enough cute, young girls here that I'm able to keep a couple new ones per month in rotation, but I just really wonder what it would be like to live in a large city in a warmer climate where I could step out my front door any given day and see literally hundreds of tanned, beach-bodied women I'd never seen before within a few hours or so of being out and about.

I lived in Chicago for a couple of years after college, but you'd be surprised at what's available (or not available as it seemed) as far as women is concerned. There's tons of girls there, obviously. Seemed like in Chicago you could literally take the average weight of women here in central IL, and add roughly 10lbs to them on average. Not sure if it's the somewhat colder weather, lack of available ways to get out and actually do something active outside, or the hot dog and deep dish pizza intake. If you're into Latina chicks, there's a lot of really hot ones up there, though. Overall, it just wouldn't be what one would expect if you're walking into a big-ass city looking for pussy.

I'm from a small town of about 10,000 and moved away for college at 18 and got a 4-yr degree in computer science. I could've went anywhere after college, really. I regret taking that job in Chicago now, instead of the offer I had for considerably less coin in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

I'd definitely get the college experience under your belt, man. There's nothing like it. Especially if you don't have to pay your own way. I worked damn near full time while juggling 3-4 classes, so I wasn't able to take full advantage of the party scene since I was literally ALWAYS swamped with homework or working.

Bottom line, don't stick around if you have the chance to get out. So many of my friends had big career aspirations and wanted to move to such-and-such place and get their dream job and live life like a boss. So many of them ended up just knocking up some girl and then became forced to just take some 9-5 employment and grind it out. Years pass by and they just live their ordinary lives, as they'd squandered the biggest opportunity they'd ever get.

A career in sales is definitely a good thing to pursue. Like you said, you'll be learning things that help you in your career as well as your personal/social life, simultaneously. I have a cousin who took a sales job out in San Diego after college, and travels everywhere. He's literally home less than 3 months or so out of an entire year. Whatever he's doing seems to be pretty lucrative too, as he is now a partner in his company and has since moved to Huntington Beach, CA and shares a neighborhood with random celebrities.

I'm 34 now, and luckily I had enough gumption to make it through school. Every once in a while I get the itch to hit up monster or career builder and submit resumes to Fortune 500 companies in Florida / Cali, but I'm pretty happy where I'm at, and with the several colleges here there's plenty of tail to be had.

Anyway, best of luck to ya. I'd definitely take your dad up on the offer to put you through school. You can have an awesome social life and fuck lots of girls no matter what you choose, but traveling and not having to worry about making ends meet sure as hell is nice too :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts guys. It's kind of weird to say I value the information some guy I don't actually know typing on a computer is helping me make a big life decision, but this def. helped me realize that option B is probably my best bet (nothing to lose, all to gain).

Shows how legit this forum actually is.

Actually I'm going to a counselor tomorrow to see which credits will transfer and what I need to take next to get into a 4 year program.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I visited a buddy down there and I absolutely love the campus (ran some daygame there) and abundance of hot women compared to where I'm at.

O-town's not to shabby either (compared to P-cola).

If I see an intellectual/fit guy pimping it I'll be sure to say what's up!

Ouch NJ! I can only imagine how hard you'd be crushing it if you had access to a real city... BEAST MODE.

Haha, cold weather man. Gotta pack on the blubber to hibernate during the winter... not the best short term mating strategy ay?

Will do. I don't think I'll be working full time but it'll be close... nonetheless with GC material and abundant access to hot women in the sexual exploration period of their life I think I'll be able to make something happen. ;)

Thanks for you input Ross/NJ !

Much appreciated.

I suggest learning something that most people need, don't know enough about, that you can brand yourself as a professional in a short period of time. An example is social media marketing. Learn it, do it, then declare yourself an expert since no one really is anyway but every company needs one. I've seen people learn a skill like this and start freelancing/consulting for $85+ an hour with no college degree. I learned a software package in my early 20s that made it easy to consult and charge whatever I wanted. There are many options to create your own path that don't even require school. A skill can trump school. I like the idea of consulting too because you don't work for someone, you work with them.
