Hello all, I'm writing in hopes that I can gather your thoughts, opinions, and wisdom from your past life experiences on how to go about my next step in life.
For those that don't know I live in a tiny city (100,000 ppl.) and it sucks for game and networking (very unambitious for the most part).
I want out... ASAP.
Options:
A.) Finish two year AS business degree by the end of the year, move, try and land a job with that... doesn't sound very promising.
B.) My dad has told me he would put me through 4 years of college (a bachelors degree) and then I could get a 4 year in business (I'd specialize in marketing most likely). I would be able to pick any University of my choice. Thus I would be able to get out of this city, and the college experience doesn't sound that bad
.
However I don't really have a desire to work in the corporate world and make a career out of being a marketing person desk jockey.
I really want to create a niche in self development industry (not pickup/seduction necessarily) once I garner more experience and get more on my purpose, say 5-10 years from now (once I get my social/dating life on point).
I don't know if it would be worth the investment to get the degree if I don't really want to use it (though it certainly wouldn't hurt).
C.) Go AWOL on this place, move to either Jacksonville, Orlando, or Miami and get a job in sales (something I am interested in... sales = get paid to polish social skills = more on my purpose [I love social dynamics]) and make something happen.
With this option I don't have much option out and no excuses (I thrive when I burn the boats) so It's either make something happen (get good at sales) or fall flat and have to catch a greyhound back home and start anew.
Anyone that's in/has been in sales want to chime in that would be awesome, I'd love to pick your brain a bit as well.
I've talked to successful salesmen that I know (family friends) and they have all told me to go with option B since I have nothing to lose and it would make me more marketable in the real world no matter what I do.
I can always go into sales once I get the 4 year degree and then I have something to fall back on no matter what.
Thanks for reading your thoughts and opinions are much welcomed!
If your older and have been here I'd love to know what direction you went and what you might do if you were in my shoes.
Thanks a ton,
-Rob
