Should I give value to those who don't?

It depends on the investment level. I try to give value to everything I touch but I don't invest real energy or resources in people who are leeches unless I'm getting something positive out of it. Now that could be peace of mind or learning something from the experience or any other intangible but somehow I'm not worse off for helping someone who makes other people worse off. In general, you don't want a circle of leeches around you. You don't want their confirmation bias or their mindsets. You don't want to be drained of resources that you could invest in a more constructive way. If it's easy for you but provides someone a ton of value at no real cost to you and doesn't promote their leech ways then of course, give because that is awesome.

Show them how to give value, if that doesnt work. Whatever.

IE i was in the dinning hall sitting by myself some dude asks if the seats open. He doesnt seem like the most socially aware. So i open with a wide smile and a gesture for him to sit. I try to make conversation but it seems to fall on him. I lose interest and stop trying. He doesn't reengage so I just leave it and sit while making it a little obvious how uncomfortable i am (just some small facial expressions).

I get up and tell him to have a good one and I leave.
