Should you read one book at a time or multiple books at a time?

I'm starting to get into reading real books, not just blogs and articles.

Do you guys read multiple books at the same time or focus completely on a single book. I'm leaning towards reading one at a time since it seems like I'd internalize lessons better and not get too scattered.

But I also feel like reading multiple books has its own benefits, like covering more ground(or maybe not, since you could finish a book faster when completely immersed in it?).

What do you guys think

Straza-

Books are fantastic.

I think it depends on your setup somewhat.

When I was younger and had more time and could read a book in one or two sittings, I'd do that; just read a book start to finish. Or if I'm on a long flight and have time to make my way through a full book, I'll do that.

But when I only have time to read 30 minutes a day (say on the train, or eating meals), I tend to rotate between a few books.

Usually I have 3-5 books I am in some state of reading (not including books I start in on, decide I'm not getting much out of, and abandon). Typically there will always be a book for the mood I'm in. Works best for me, since when you're going in broken chunks like this you won't always be in the mood to resume with Book A or Book B, but Book C can be just right. Maybe you read Book C for a few days, but then aren't in the mood for it anymore. But now Book A would be fun to read. Etc.

Doesn't seem to detract from my comprehension any. I've retained plenty from these books... perhaps more, since it's more spread out and broken up, and I'm fresher every time I pick up another section to read. Can't say it's definitely better, but I'm pretty sure it's not worse.

I see, that makes good sense. Not to mention you learn much better when your in the mood for the material your about to dive into. I'll take it on a time availability basis then. Read big chunks when my time allows for it and prioritize a couple books when it's more boxed up and spaced out.

Thanks !!
