Hey guys, I've finally decided to do online dating in order to get more dates with girls I like faster (easier screening) and to increase my abundance mentality. I'm going to try to keep a good blend between online dating and approaching women offline though.

Anyway...

On my facebook, I use a slightly humorous photo where I am behind one of those wooden-cut-out-things that you put your head in. Normally, I'd say it's dumb, but I actually look pretty good in the picture, and you can see my entire head. Bad or good idea to also use this photo on a dating website?

Also, I'm thinking I'll go with match.com first because you can actually pick-and-choose (and I've heard that the women are more open). You guys have better experiences with match.com or eharmony? When I was in high school, I tried okcupid and hated it; the girl-to-guy ratio is very skewed, so I'm hoping that one of the "pay sites" is better. Although, I had no idea about PUA culture then (wish I had).

PinotNoir,

I wouldn't recommend using that picture, whether you look good or not. For online, a picture is the first, and sometimes only, impression a girl will make about you. I've experimented a bit with different pictures in the past and I'd recommend using ones like in Chase's example:

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=43

I've tried POF and eharmony. eharmony is pretty expensive unless you wait for one of their deals (usually it's about $50/month, I found one for about $8/month). Not really the best site in my opinion. It matches people for you so you cannot search on your own and sometimes these girls live in a different city (despite the fact my settings are setup for girls in my area). Overall, I'd only really recommend it if you can get them during one of their deals. Otherwise, not the greatest site in my opinion. Another reason I've kinda put online on the back-burner. My advice is go with anything that's free. After all, why pay hard-earned money for something that someone else is handing out gratis?

Cheers,

-Doc

I wouldn't recommend a funny picture unless it's completely outlandish. When I see girls making faces, showing their tattoo, or doing something else stupid, I immediately move on. I'm not up for girls like that.

However, I did read on another PUA site that for guys it might be a good idea as women are flooded with messages. However, you have to go over the top. The guy who wrote that said he uses a pirate hat and eyepatch. The idea is to make the girl go "WTF?!" and click on your message and profile... and that's the whole idea - to actually get them to click on you and not the other 29 guys that messaged her that same day.

Thanks guys for the input. It's just been something that I've been debating.

I guess really I just need to try it and see the results haha. I'm also wondering if it will attract girls that are more like me (as in would find it humorous). Even though a certain picture may pull more page views, are they ultimately page views from girls that you want? Quality vs quantity?

If I try the funny picture and can't get any dates with women that I find attractive (key point here), then I'll take it as a failure.
