I'd love to be so confident, that I could afford to behave a bit weird. It's like a fantasy of mine... to see to confused look on your peers' faces, that in spite of your weirdness that it's you who's the one who walks away with the girl! No what I mean?
The thing about acting weird when you know you're superior, is that girls will have mixed views on your behavior. For some, it will arouse curiosity, but others will just think "he's weird & condescending, so I'll stay away". So it would be funny to end up getting with the friend of a girl who thinks you're a weirdo just to see the look on her face!
Most people won't act weird because they presume that they won't get the chance to demonstrate higher value at some point later on. But imagine if you were so confident, that you'd just know that it's inevitable that shortly later some event will happen, that your reaction to, will show utter superiority. I think the only thing that would allow one to be this confident while acting weird, would be if you could read people's minds, or if you knew the future.
Most people don't take the gamble in acting weird. Perhaps conforming to socially acceptable habits, isn't a bad way to increase your chances of higher social status. But to me, it just makes me think people are sheep. It takes confidence to reject many of these silly habits that society forces upon us.
Just look at the character Brando is playing here. Odd as hell, but he has a confidence about him.

Any one who knows the Mentalist's Patrick Jane will know what I'm talking about. Sometimes you're not quite sure whether he's just being stupid, or if it's actually sarcasm. And he's uses this in itself to trick people. Plays them like fiddles. And you see no one else would have the confidence to put their reputation on the line in the first place.
