Hey fellas, I wanted to ask you something that has been affecting my progress in girl chase and just in life. I wanted to come here because I think the guys in here are very intellectual good guys and have a great outlook on life. I'm hoping his lost, confused, hopeless feeling is temporary and that some of you guys can give me advice on your outlook on life and how you get through hard times.

So you believe that everything happens for a reason? If everything does happen for a reason then why did Hati, a country that is full of suffering and a very poor country die because of the earthquake?

Hmm...idk I do I understand how the world is a paradox and the universe has a certain order, which is maybe why the dinosaurs died so we could live, but who knows if this is really true?

All these make sense which is why I'm so confused and lost. If I don't think everything happens for a reason and that god has a plan for me I lose all my motivation and feel hopeless and alone because why try if everything can be lost in a snap of a finger. I know this is bad thinking, but it's how I feel.

If I do think everything does happen for a reason I lay in bed all day thinking "everything happens for a reason" and trap myself from reaching my full potential and just do nothing all day. This drives me crazy because it's my only way of coping with bad things in life.

Thinking about this is literally driving me insane and is emotionally draining me and just making me feel like wanting to end it all. So what do you think I should do and\or think to help me reach my full potential and succeed? Do you think that everything happens for a reason? Maybe this is happening for a reason? Haha

BisLife,

I haven't read your full post but Here's two things i know.

If everything happens for a reason, then can you say people attract tsunamis (as per law of attraction) when in fact, they were on a holiday?

Read my sentence above again. IT's a whole lot of garbage. My second point is that recently, Chase noted on resetting experiences (Article: She's a bitch to you). There is a lot of evidence that points out that "energy/states/beliefs" do attract things to your life.

However, it is also a case of probabilities. Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iCAH4_CDsI

In case, i haven't read your post, so sorry if this is irrelavant!

Remember there is no "good or bad" in nature. There is only "is." Humans projecting our system of morality onto the laws of nature is what makes certain events appear to be positive or negative when in fact they simply....are.
I agree with Drexel here.
An interesting thought is that of Adam and Eve from the bible. Despite if you're religious or not (or if the story is truth or metaphoric) it has it's merit in understanding the judgment of mother nature as good and bad.

When Eve ate the "forbidden fruit" from the tree of "knowledge of good and evil". According to the scripture when Eve ate the fruit nothing changed in the physiology of the earth (hurricanes/earthquakes already existed), all that happened was that now Adam and Eve were exposed to a higher level of consciousness. They now had knowledge of good and evil. Meaning if an earthquake occurred and wiped out their civilization they wouldn't freak out over it they'd simply just start building a new civilization (like an ant/bird would). Now with the knowledge of good and evil they would judge the destruction of their civilization as a "bad" thing.

I also believe everything happens for a reason. However I come from a more Christian/biblical perspective regarding "why?" God allows such events to happen.

That being that:
1. We as humans have been granted free choice to do what we want (autonomy granted by God/Universe/Creator whatever you want to call it)
2. Without adversity and crisis we'd never grow personally or as a universal society, for lack of a better term.

For example if there was no crime in the world and everyone behaved perfectly and no one was ever raped, killed, or murdered then we'd have no reason to use our brains to find ways to prevent/detour it. We'd never have invented guns (except for killing animals for food possibly but people's original motivation to create guns was for war purposes) or bombs and look what we've created as a result. The evolution of modern warfare is absolutely tremendous as well as a bit scary.

My personal opinion is that God doesn't want us to sit around and have an easy life, he wants us to use our brains and grow personally and collectively. Adversity inspires/forces growth.

The earthquake example: We have to find new/better ways to protect against the repercussions of earthquakes, as well as better ways to clean them up and readjust.

I don't know this for sure but perhaps the earthquake helped bring Haiti and the Dominican Republic together (were past enemies) and put their differences/animosity aside to unite and aid one another. Perhaps in God's eyes that was worth the sacrifice of human lives to better the island as a whole.
Just an example.

Ultimately the question you asked has been debated for eons and there isn't a surefire answer for. You just have to tell yourself a story that you agree with that best aids your beliefs and journey into becoming the strongest version of yourself.

This style of thinking only leads to victim mentality with the "victim" blaming all of his problems on the universe and taking absolutely no accountability. There are always going to be things in your control as well as things that are out of your control. It's your outlook that will change whether you see something "bad" happening as a threat or an opportunity. If you truly think that the universe or "God" is out to get you then it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I don't consider myself a religious person, but for those that are, I do not think God has a "plan" for anyone. I really think those who believe this just try to remove responsibility from their actions by shifting the blame to God's "Plan." God simply gives you the tools and the choice to face adversity and challenges in life. There are always challenges for everyone. Those who don't think that are too deep in victim mentality to realize this.

I highly recommend this article if you haven't read it yet:

Usually when something in my life that is out of my control happens I like to say "it happened for a reason". Its helps me relieve stress when I take it off my shoulders. Then I proceed to find a solution to my problem and carry out a plan of action.

One way to see it is that there are two fundamental views on this World. Either there is God and Life has purpose, or there is no God and Life has no purpose.

People always seek some purpose of Life. Why is one person born with great body and high IQ, and another one handicapped? Why do some people live full and happy life while others suffer in wars or tyranny? Why do some great and good people die young, and bastards live rich life till their 80's?

There is no answer to it, logically it doesn't make much sense. But many people desire solution to these questions, they want answers, they want to understand. So the logical conclusion is, if Life doesn't make sense during our lifetime there must be another Life after we die. The logical conclusion is, if this current Life can bring happiness or misery, The Afterlife also must bring happiness and misery. Or if you want, Heaven and Hell.

As organisms, we humans are weak, brittle, imperfect. We are not really in charge of our Lives, we didn't decide when we will be born, and most of us have no clue when we will die. We can't influence most of events that cross our lives. Our Life is only temporal and brief, it has a beginning and it has an end. We get sick easily and we can die easily. If a rational person looks around he can see a lot of suffering. We don't understand why one nation is wiped out by natural disaster or disease, while another one is prospering...

So the logical conclusion of a believer is, there must be something better, something above, something everlasting and perfect. Some entity that understands everything and is in charge of everything. Lets call it God. Depending on belief, God might be judgmental or non-judgmental, loving or punishing, observing or long time gone. Humans are very important to God, God placed us into the center and made the Universe revolve around each of us.

So religion and believe in God actually have very strong logic behind it, what can't be explained by everyday logic can be easily explained by believing in God.

How can something complex like human being exist, how do billions of cells interact between each other to create memory, how can a person be aware of himself, and what is actually consciousness? How was Life created? If body stays on Earth after death, logically there must be a soul that goes to heaven. Its all a mystery, perhaps only God understands...

The other view on life is more pragmatic, skeptical, scientific. There is no God, there is just different logic that most don't understand yet because understanding science is difficult. It requires an effort. What exists is an Evolution and we are just descendents of much simpler species. Our thinking, logic and speech are only results of a combination of pure coincidences in genetic mutations and environmental pressures.

Our organism seems to be complex, but in reality it is only composed by billions of specialized cells, each is in its essence have much simpler function than the original living cell. Scientists still fully don't understand the whole biochemical mechanism that we call alive organism, nevertheless the whole complexity can be broken down into simple chemical reactions.

According to science, Life wasn't created, the original cell was just a result of billions of reactions that were happening every second in every square inch on Earth. In its primitiveness, the beginning of Life was only a random chain of RNA molecules that became making copies of itself in the pool of redundant amino acids. There is nothing mysterious about Life, it is only random chemical reactions of different molecules that became organized into larger clumps in order to remain in lowest possible energy state.

By environmental pressures such as natural disasters, those molecules were forced to evolved into larger clumps called cells, and in further process those single cells evolved into multi-cellular organisms. Although each organism as a whole is much more complex than original living cell, the cells itself have actually much simpler functions, they are just more specialized to perform less work than the original "living" cell.

So is the beginning of Life just a pure coincidence? Maybe not so, but perhaps the coincidence was inevitable. Given the fact that chemical reactions happen everywhere on this planet, and most likely on billions of another similar planets as well, it would be actually quite surprising if some form of more complex Life didn't "happen". It is actually quite compelling to claim that there must be millions of planets in the Universe on which some form of Life exists, it just makes logical sense.

From this point of view, Life is just an inevitable coincidence, and living organisms as such are only a mere byproduct of chemical reactions that started 3.5 billions of years ago. Humans are not the center of the Universe, rather just a byproduct of what is happening all around infinite number of Stars. On atomic level, we are true descendents of Star Dust.

At the end of Life, organism dies. It is broken down by another chemical processes. There is no soul, the whole Life just disappears. No matter whether the person did great things in Life, was just a passive drifter or a bastard, there is always the same fate for every one - no one will be rewarded for good deeds, and no one will be punished for sins. All we have is only one chance, only one Life to live.

Assuming that science is right, how depressing is that? It is fucking depressing because the whole Truth is fucking depressing, it's better not to know the Truth. If you want to be happy forget the Truth. People always claim they want the Truth, yet most don't even have the courage admit that Truth could be totally different than they believe. Beliefs make Life simple, beliefs make Life much happier than science. And if Life doesn't have any purpose, what's the point of it then? There is really no point. Just Live it, Live it the best way you can, Live it - with or without Beliefs...
