Online & Apps Social media approach

Morning Gentlemen,

I have a question about how to approach a girl in social media, here is the background:

I met this girl little more than a year ago after a fight with my ex. I did not happen anything with her but we share our mails and facebook and within a couple of days she was back in her country. We sent each other quite a few messages and I always made it clear that I like her (compliments, etc) then I went back with my ex and lost communication with her until about a week ago, we started talking again on Facebook briefly and she told me she was going to be back for a few days in February.
Now, I really like this girl and if I take her to bed it will really help me gain confidence but I am really rusty and haven't been on dates in the last 5 1/2 years so I do not know what kind of tactic I can use to approach or to see if she is interested in me and also do not want to be bothering her all the time with messages.

Any tips or advice it will be more than welcome!

I think just ask her out...whats the worst that could happen?
I personally think if u havent gone out on a date in months u should be doing more approaches,
