Wonder if an old/current flame gave this guy your number as a joke? Something similar once happened to me. Was a girl I had cold approached, and she later caught me reading Girls Chase and started teasing me about it, to which I agreed and amplified about how I was this uber-player who had already picked up every girl in the city with my bewitching pick-up lines.
Anyway, she thought it would be hilarious to send some guy who later also approached her to me for some pointers. I was not as benevolent as you though and ended up just messing with the guy with her watching

Girls in my life never know anything about pickup. They just know I'm some dude who's shagged a bunch, but they just think I'm a man-whore. I very rarely talk about technique or anything along those lines with women. So far as girls know, other girls just fall on my dick, I just get chased by girls, I just slip and fall into pussy, etc.
I did have a girlfriend suggest I start a business helping guys do better at dating once. I told her that was an interesting idea.
