Sticking point: Less confident using my native language

Hello!

I'm dealing with a very strange sticking point that I believe some of you guys might have dealt with before as well. I live in Europe, in a country where english is not the native language, but everyone speaks it pretty well and mostly fluently. Personally I have no trouble holding a fairly advanced conversation in english, and the weird thing is that I actually feel more confident, chill, relaxed and generally do better with women in english than in my native language.
I don't know what it is, but if I approach a girl and she says "I only speak english," as soon as I hear those words I relax, my voice gets deeper, warmer and I just do better.
The only explenation I can find is that I have so many bad reference experiences from dealing with women in my native language (bullied in school and what not) that I simply turn into my "chode" self when I use my native language, and into "someone else" when I use english.

The same thing seems to happen to me once I get out of my home town where I grew up; I become more confident, more talkative and I can appraoch a lot more girls with a lot less approach anxiety than I normaly can in my home town.

Any thoughts or advice on how to deal with this problem is greatly appreciated :)
