Studies show happiness is unattractive in men, but pride and shame is

Thoughts on this? The pride and shame part is in line with the dominant and byronic traits that are seen as sexy as often discussed on here. But trait happiness is rarely discussed on here. Is it really a bad idea to show happiness to women for her to remain attracted? What is it about happiness that is unattractive to women? Playfulness, wit and charm appears to be attractive, but how does that differentiate from happiness?

Personally, I have been noted to give off a very jovial vibe when seducing women, which sometimes makes me appear a little cartoonish and annoying and I don't know if it may have involuntarily hurt my progress with women. If there is merit in this, how would one tone down how happy they appear when seducing a woman? Smile less and be more dominant?

Not necessarily.

The second article is jumping to conclusions. The first one is a little more scientific and expresses the limitations of the study but doesn’t spend much time dwelling on them.

There is a wrong assumption here that a smile is a universal and predictable indicator of happiness.
In reality there are several different kinds of smiles and a wide open, ear to ear, teeth showing smile which is very common in pictures is more a sign of nervousness, conformance and submission.

Check this smile for example.

This is not a happy guy.
This is an insincere smile that is used to put people at ease or because he has to smile for the picture (too much effort, no results = low value + possible high attainability)

This is how guys who pedestalize women look like. They are eager to meet her, she is a gift from god to them and therefore, they are unattractive.

Now compare it with this smile.

This is more subtle, more sincere and most importantly it is not submissive.

Look at the crow’s feet. That is a good indicator that the smile is not fake.

This is how a high value man looks at a woman because he likes her but he is not so impressed of her that he needs to pretend.
She is in her league.

I actually struggled to find this picture because if you type “smile” in Google, most of the results you get are of the first kind.

So basically that’s the point of it and something that the researchers probably overlooked.
The kind of smile that most people use in pictures tends to pass as too attainable + too insincere so you can’t really equate it to happiness.

Hence the common advice in the community to have pictures in your dating apps with a small sexy grin instead of a huge open smile.

Smiles are sexy and attractive, but just the right kind.
As long as you are sexy AND sincere, you can use them in spades.

My LTR opened me on a dating site where the picture of me was me holding up a glass to toast, and smiling...her words were "There is something going on deep in your eyes" . And there was....I was in a fragile emotional state while out at an event with friends. She saw that. No one else did..

a good date brings a smile to your lips... and hers
