My ancient Dell Latitude dinosaur can't take it anymore so its time to upgrade.

What I Will Use This Laptop For: I want to have the capabilities and enough power to build and manage websites for online businesses. I know that's vague but I really don't what else to tell you.

Budget: $500-$1,000 however I can go outside my budget a bit if its truly truly worth the money in the long run.

Wi-fi Connectivity: There is a good chance I will be operating in 3rd world countries with potentially shoddy internet connections. If there is a component/feature I should look for to help boost or mitigate shoddy wi-fi I think that would be a wise component to have.

Note: I've never used a Mac or Apple computer before and I hear that it can be quite a difficult learning curve to transition to, though I'm open to learn.

Any recommendations on laptops to that could fit the bill here?

Rob

Cheapest possible laptop in a computer store.
Mine is $500, with 6 GB RAM, 2.5 GHz dual core.
Pretty good for all purposes except gaming.

Also you can use Ubuntu. Efficient, almost no virus, and free.
I switched to Ubuntu a while ago (from Windows 10) and never look back.

Good tip Curiosity. Everyone I've talked to says go cheap and invest the residual budget money on making sales/advertising.

Right now I'm looking at these two laptops:

1. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-575-...id=1503006764&sr=1-3&keywords=acer+aspire+e15
2. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073YC5D78/ref=psdc_13896615011_t2_B01K1IO3QW

Probably going to go with the Dell inspiron (#2) as it has 8GB of memory for only $65 more.

Can I use Ubuntu if I get one of the options above?

Yeah, it's better with 8 gb ram. Certain app eats a lot of ram (Photoshop comes to mind) so it's worth it.
Also, you can install Ubuntu alongside Windows.

Done and done. The 8gig is in the mail. I'll try out Ubuntu that sounds smart.

Mr Rob,

Recommendations

Surface 3 (preowned)
Surface Pro 3 (preowned)
Surface Pro 1 (preowned)

All are already good enough.

Teclast X98 Air 3g, which i am using, with lenovo x201. My tablet can use a mobile sim!

Gaming computers like MSI or Get a Lenovo x201 with i5 and upgrade it with an SSD and 8gb ram.

You guys need to do the dirty work of researching and find those second hand sites, where they sell good cpus. or you will get con. Simple as that
