Every time I come onto the forum, no matter which board I go to I see the same 10 or 50 maximum guy's. Yet there are so many profiles, many of such users seem to have made profiles and abandoned them. Currently there are 1945 profiles. Most recent joke is with a guy named " Effortless " who went through a lot of effort to create a profile only to say he won't be posting because gc will be sending spam to his email. Smh and dwl and lol lol.

Fun and joke aside, the website seems to be losing board users and I don't know why. Can anybody speculate why this happens? Many users have not even posted once and were last active last year this time. I went through the members properly. I kept wondering why I always see the same guys posting. What attracts you guy's who post to use the boards? What do you think is the main reason most users have not posted more than 50 times.

Imo everyday someone joins the boards but I don't see more active users. I see less. It reminds me of how fleeting the internet is. Use Facebook for example. When it just came out everyone was excited about being on it because it's cool!. Nowadays the new cool is instagram.

I think when someone gets too much of one thing they value it less and eventually lose it.

Most people post very few times because they don't take action in the real world. They just post shit. This eventually gets either frustrating or boring. So they leave.

As with a lot of things on the internet, it's really easy to create an account, so a lot of people will create one and post a couple of times and then stop. Some people do create an account with the intention of writing field reports regularly, but then stop when they realize it's a lot of work. Some people probably even just create accounts to keep track of which posts they've read and which are new. And then there are the guys who either find writing to be relatively easy, or appreciate the feedback they get, who find the time and energy to write field reports every week or so, and these are the 10-50 active members that you are talking about. I'd be interested to hear one of them say what keeps them motivated. Most people, though, don't end up posting that much (I myself am only at 29 posts after 2 years).

The title of this post is "The Boards Seem to be Slowing Down". Have you noticed that there are fewer people posting, or the frequency of new posts is decreasing? If not, then I think a better title would be "Why do the boards have so many inactive members?". I personally haven't been on here much lately, but a quick look at the field reports page shows that it's at least as active as it was about a year ago, and probably more so.
