This happened some time ago(pre-GC), when I was visiting a bar with some of my friends.
I was sitting at the bar table, when my friends were visiting the smoking area. One of my friend's friend (Let's say his name is Jack)had left his drink for me to guard, as I wasn't coming with them, and drinks were forbidden at the smoking area.
As I was sitting there, deep in my thoughts, a good looking blonde girl casually sat next to me to the same table. I took it as an opening invitation and naturally opened the conversation. I learned her name, let's say it's Rose.
I learned that Rose's a restaurant worker. We had some initial deep diving, and then a small break came for the conversation. I glanced for a few seconds away from her, looking if my friends were returning. When I looked back, the woman had gone and taken the drink which I was guarding!
She didn't have a drink when she arrived, but now she was sipping the taken drink with no conscience.
If it would've been my drink, I would've been a little offended (She could have at least asked to drink from it!), but I would've probably looked it through my fingers. "Well, let her have the drink if she's so thirsty."
But since it wasn't mine, I was quite furious of the situation. The girl made me look bad in Jack's view for not being able to guard his drink.
I didn't really know what to do. I couldn't ask it back, since the girl had already drank from it. Nor didn't I have time anymore, for Jack was already returning.
As Jack sat next to me, he noticed his drink was gone. He looked me with a questioning look, and pointed the place where the drink originally was, now empty.
"I think that girl took your drink, Jack. Sorry, I was looking away."
Jack didn't respond, but kept pointing the empty table, with a demanding look in his eyes.
Jack was right - he needed his drink back, and I was becoming anxious. I knew just what to do, but first I had to talk to the girl.
"Hey Rose."
(Since Rose had taken the drink, her interest for the conversation had totally dropped. She was facing away from the table and was browsing her phone while sipping the drink.)
"You took my friend's drink."
"Excuse me?"
Rose couldn't fool me. She wasn't drunk enough to do this accidentally.
With a judging look in my eyes and with a firm voice, I said:
"I just want to say that as the waitress that you are, I thought you'd know better than to go stealing other's drinks."
Rose made a confused look, and slowly placed the drink back onto the table.
"No. You keep that blasted drink."
"And you, Jack. I'll get you a new one.
I patted Jack onto the back and headed for the bar counter, seemingly angry.
As I was at the counter, a guy approached the girl and she began to immediately talk to him. He was probably a friend of her, or even a bf.
They headed away together. I don't remember anymore if the girl took the drink with her.
When I returned back to the table with a new drink for Jack, he gave me a thumbs up and we continued the night like nothing had happened.
What I want to know was what was this girl thinking?
Surely it was intentional of her to take the drink.
She probably thought it was mine. Was his only intention to approach me only to get a free drink (in which she succeeded), or was it just a side thing, "Well it's his drink so I'm sure he won't mind me drinking from it."
Was she using me as a tool for a free drink and dumping me afterwards, or was it just bad luck from her, taking my friend's drink when she was thinking it was mine?
Comments are welcome!
