($20, though you can get it on a certain website that gives you magnets and pirate's booty, if you catch my drift.)

I came across the book on the recommendation of Ricky Raw on this post from his website, therawness.com.

Although the title makes it seem like it will be all female-bashing, it's actually not, and is actually more balanced than I expected it to be.

I highly recommend this as food for thought, if nothing else. The one thing you have to be aware of is stopping yourself from drifting towards misogyny when reading these types of books (Sexploitation, Predatory Female, Manipulated Man, though I've only read partly through the last one). The point of the book isn't that it's all women's fault; it's all our faults that we are where we are today.

GFC makes our situation seem pretty bad, though I disagree on that count. Still, the book's given me a lot to think about.

  • Couple things the book discusses I've seen in my own life:
  • women getting sloppy with their birth control, the "oops" con
  • playing the jealousy game, but as part of an attention-getting scheme, the flirting stops completely when she gets what she wanted

The major takeaway I got is that a big part of the problem is failing to set boundaries (Mark Manson over at Postmasculine had a good post on this) and making sure you keep them.

When you read, keep in mind his introduction where he says "not all women are like this". My goal while reading this (and my final goal) is to be able to see through all of this kind of stuff, and know how, if not why, women behave, and love them for what they are (and loving everyone for what they are). And, knowing this will help you meet women that aren't like this. Or at least less so.

I have a little creeping feeling that my mindset towards women is being warped slightly right now, even writing this post... It's just a gut instinct, I don't know.

If you've read this, has the book's assertions been mostly supported by your experiences?

And,

Anyone else read this and have any thoughts to discuss?
