The infamous question:are video games detrimental?

As long as you achieve your other goals. Same thing as anything else. We all tend to rationalize that feminism destroy society and while it is true, it is also true that we can learn to made better choices.

50/50 i have sometimes put very long time in V.G.s in single run like 20 to 21 hrs. and only eating something when i was on blink of passing out but also i have gained things from them too .
one important point to note that MOST video games make one good in them only not in real world. i have used MOST because i dont to see wrath of video game lovers toward me.one game which hepls increase fluid IQ in dual n back which is backed by research
and now i think about it more i have wasted my most part of time playing games about from age of 13 to16 that time i didnt do any physical work or socializing etc
now i have thrown them out

Video games are a valueless activity to engage in.
There is no inherent gain other than possibly learning strategy or improving hand eye coordination however video games are not an exclusive avenue to acquire those skills.
That aside if you're able to control the time you play and use it as a means of unwinding or brain exercise it's not too terrible.
The problem becomes when one becomes addicted to video games and plays them to the point that their virtual game life becomes more important than their persons actual life and all they think about is going to play more video games.
The epidemic of the grown man that lives in his moms basement and spends 80% of his time playing video games to obnoxiously good levels. Yeah the characters that he has developed virtually are epic people living epic lives that he lives through vicariously, however his own life is an absolute disaster. No worse than being an alcoholic.
Just like alcohol a little in moderation is fine but don't lose handle on things and become consumed otherwise it will consume you.

With balance, just like Zac said, I think video games are totally fine.
I also have adopted (I think Chase's) mindset of "do what you need to do first and then go socialize, play games, etc."
It's worked great so far.

It saddens me that man had become this video game zombie. Getting fat, living off their family or government, not trying to better the species in any way shape or form, all pun intended. I do have hope that those guys will eventually realize that they're missing out on the beauties of human pleasures and change their act.
