I have not tried salsa. (I have no rythem. I do a mean "sprinkler" dance haha)

But I just see yoga and Zumba as too feminine.

In the gym I notice no one does Zumba then women. (and unlike TV its not intense) (for intense Zumba you would have to join a Zumba Club. and like dancing it would take practice and work to get better. Not to mention its expensive) so I guess if you wanted to do zumba..ehhh.. as long as you are willing to work at it. and persue it fully then go ahead with it.

Yoga. (as a lifter and a man among men)...dont get me started on Yoga... LOL

Cheers, The Tool

haha yeah I lift weights too and I dont want too interfere with my bulking with cardio (dancing). I keep hearing mixed things about yoga, great place to meet women and bad place to meet women, they have classes at my community college I may just give it a shot, maybe I will get lucky haha

Ocantu,

Its best to go after your particular type of woman, and join activities where that type is likely to be.

Salsa: Women are passionate in their dancing while still having fun, and these women tend to be that way as lovers as well, they're passionate and fun.

Yoga: These girls have discipline in their lives but are flexible (double meaning ;)).

Zumba: Its only Zumba when the teacher is Latina/Latino, the music is Latin. If it doesn't meet those requirements, its not real Zumba. There's actually a Zumba class before my Karate class on Tuesdays, and its nothing like you see on TV.

This doesn't mean yoga is the way to go either though. Unless you've got fundamentals tighter than a high school virgin's pussy then women in yoga classes will almost automatically peg you as a creepy guy because most guys only join yoga to take in the view and nothing else.

So, if discipline and flexibility is what you want in women, try martial arts too bro. I've got some sexy women in my Karate class (that I teach), and I've seen more in other classes I've taken in my life, especially Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do (but I fucking hate Tae Kwon Do...)

I advocate for martial arts over yoga, and in actuality martial arts can develop more flexibility than yoga.

Krav Maga is awesome!

But I gotta ask before I give any recommendations, what do you want out of martial arts?

Practicality, muscle building, etc... what would you like out of martial arts?

I have always wanted to learn to fight or more like defend myself, I took a few boxing lessons, but I eventually stopped since I lost my job at the time.
I have always wanted the ability to defend myself really. I already hit the weights and eat a surplus of calories to build muscle.

For self defense: Krav Maga, Kajukenbo if you happen to be in the California area, Hapkido, Jiu Jitsu, Judo, or Karate.

Krav Maga teaches you to eliminate opponents fast and teaches you that your opponent's always have a weapon (even if they don't)

Kajukenbo: A mix of styles from Karate to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu all amassed in a single style. Originated in Haiwaii and is a primal reason for the start of MMA/UFC. Kajukenbo also teaches you to eliminate opponents fast and not waste any time: dirty street fighting tactics.

Hapkido: One of my favorites by far. Teaches you to use your opponents momentum against them with sweeping throws, and hardcore joint locks, and joint throws. Specializes in weapons defense/disarms as well.

Jiu Jitsu: A covers all ground type of art, from weapons disarms to ground fighting.

Judo: Joint locks, joint throws, allows a smaller person to defeat larger stronger opponents.

Karate: This is what I've studied for 5 years, am a 3rd degree black belt, and the Karate system I'm in teaches joint locks, escapes, smart fighting, street fighting mentalities, and teaches you to not waste time with opponents. My teacher, a 10th degree black belt, also teaches the weapons system from Japan, as well as Kali, and I'm currently level 7 in weapons.

As a guy that's practiced yoga, I can eliminate some of the pre-conceptions about it which are usually false. The key to picking up a new hobby isn't just picking something to do - it's needing to do something because it's valuable and practical.

I did yoga for a while when I was into sports for the benefits that it provides. Practically anyone could do yoga and have it help you health-wise. The entire atmosphere which a yoga class has is very conducive to hooking up, as everyone is open to conversation and in a very relaxed, approachable state. I would recommend it if you're looking to meet some cool people and have a relaxed, meditative workout.

Popular Myths of Yoga

- It's too girly. Women hardly look down upon a man engaging in a yoga class. If he's eye candy, they will adore him and all be wanting to meet him. Throw in that he's actually good at yoga, he'll get the most flexible women in the place to himself ;).

- Guys join to take in the view. I've never seen this before. Even if a creepy guy were to do this, the instructor would be able to sense his vibe immediately and would most likely set him straight or not allow him into their class.

- Yoga's easy! Just... No. At my peak conditioning where I did yoga 3 times a week and ran 50+ miles a week, I still had to take intermittent breaks. Like any physical activity, an adaptation needs to take place before you are any good at it. Your first class won't be fun ;).

Martial arts is also very practical. I don't very much about martial arts, but I'm sure Zphix can point you towards the benefits. In all, pick something you can stick with, and make sure you pick it for a good reason.

Zumba: No
I did zumba at school...it was 30 chicks and me the only guy... Sounds good but problem is you become THAT guy. I think some fitness classes (hardcore ones) are much better. You get balanced guys and girls and the chicks have amazing bodies!

Salsa: It can work...personally I get bored with dance...but if it works for you

Yoga: Oh ya. my suggest don't do the ones offered at the gym. Those are usually too easy and the girls are ugly. Go to a studio with good reviews (check Yelp). You will get super hot girls and a great work out!

I wish there were sexy women in my Jiu Jitsu class, been practising it for almost 15 years now, i haven't seen a beautiful girl ever, or she must have been watching. But it does depend from which club you join i guess. Jiu Jitsu itself is a very good defensive martial art but it needs a lot of practise before you can use it, its very technical so you have to be really committed.

Cheers, Supah

Why not do something you LIKE doing and enjoy YOURSELF?

I feel salsa is so over-rated. I have a friend who's very into it but he's Latin and really enjoys it. I've gone a few times and it's fun but it's not exactly my idea of pickup central.
90% of the guys are there because they read in the womens gossip column it's a good place and the women are there for the same reason. The quality is generally lacking.

Why must life be all about WOMEN? Do something you like, you'll be surprised how much your world opens up.

Old thread, but I had to comment on the salsa thing.

Ya salsa is pretty lame when you signup for a class at some random studio (whatever you find on meetup.com). The girls are so so and it isn't that much fun.

However, if you can get to a big university and signup for an actual semester long class it is GOLD!

There was about 100 people (all young) for each class I took and it was pretty much an even splits of girls to guys. Heres the thing a lot of girls signup for the class looking for a boyfriend, fling, or guy friends to hang out with. They know its a numbers game too for them. Each class we had a ring of all the guys on the outside and the girls on the inside. We would practice one move then switch partners. Eventually, you dance with everyone.

Great way to meet young girls. Might be too expensive for us older guys to signup for an actual college class, but if you can get threw the red tape it is awesome!
