Too much preselection is “a turn off”?

On my Instagram profile I optimized it to have preselection everywhere. Videos of me playing with hot girls, pulling their hair, me carrying them playfully, are littered all over my highlights.

One of my friends was trying to put me on with this girl at his school. While showing her my highlights, he showed her a few of my preselection videos.

It soon to a video of me alone with 4-5 girls in a hot tub with bikinis on. Apparently this was too much and she immediately said “that’s a turn off”. My friend asked why, but she just repeated herself. Weird.

I know it’s generally an attainability problem, but I dont know why exactly. She should at least be intrigued imo. She doesn’t automatically know how attainable i am irl.

Do I have to manage my “online attainability” the same way I do in person? i.e keeping it at the sweet spot, not too much value pumping but not too little either

@Kaida,

Got to think about the context, man.

Girl sees you at the hotel pool in a jacuzzi with a bunch of hotties in bikinis flirting madly with you? She thinks you're a reprehensible scoundrel... yet, there is still something about you (that huge attraction spike she experienced from preselection). You weren't doing that just to get her attention. She just happened to "catch you in the act."

On the other hand, girl sees a social media video on YOUR social media account that YOU added, showing off you in a jacuzzi with a bunch of bikini babes? You have consciously chosen this video to present, on a channel where every piece of content is deliberately curated by you to create a certain image. It's like walking around with a shirt on that says "MY DICK IS MASSIVE AND I FUCK ALL NIGHT LONG", except not nearly as funny. It just looks like bald-faced bragging.

Even more so if the girls are not going CRAZY flirting with you and drenching you with excited interest and attraction, touching you, and everything. If it's just "chilling in a jacuzzi with some babes... oh let me upload this to my social media, one sec" it looks forced.

Did you ever read my old online dating guide? I talk about preselection pictures there, but my advice is to trim most of the girl out so it looks like you tried to cut her out of the picture but the girl can just see the side of her face... just enough to tell she's pretty. Works especially well if the picture is taken with you / the girl leaning at angles where you really could not cut her out of the pic. Then it is "caught in the act" instead of "consciously planned."

"Oh, that just happened to be a really good picture of me, and there was a girl with me at the time... I tried to clip her out. Did the best I could," is the effect you're going for.

Preselection works a lot less well when it looks staged.

Ideal preselection you DO want in social media:

  • OTHER girls sharing media with them fawning all over you.

  • Media that is allegedly about something else altogether, and just HAPPENS to have hot girls drooling all over you at some point.

  • Interspersed with a bunch of things that make it seem like you are just focused on your grind, living your awesome life... only occasionally do we see girls, but they're hot, and really, really like you tons, and we see a variety of different girls who are into you.

  • Or you can do occasional "joke preselection" videos, like some hot girl running up to you playfully being like "Kaida, I love you, oh Kaida!" and you feigning disgust, pushing her away, going, "Geez, these girls are so annoying, just leave me alone already, gah!" It's a skit, so it doesn't count as bragging since it's humor, plus it shows social intelligence (the humor, inversion of who chases whom tropes, etc.), and shows that you have hot girls around you who like you enough to participate in a skit like that.

Etc.

The aim is to make it not seem like you are INTENTIONALLY trying to show off "look at how I spent time around all these hot girls" but rather you are just doing your thing, and ACCIDENTALLY show off that "man, these hot girls just won't let me catch a break, they are always chasing after me, gah."

Remember the rules of preselection:

  1. The hotter the girl, the stronger the effect.
  2. The more INTEREST the girl shows, the stronger the effect.

If it's just you hanging out and being social, it's social proof, but it isn't preselection.

If she's trying to get you to kiss her, it's preselection.

If she keeps flirting with you, it's preselection.

If it looks staged though, and there isn't a good reason for the staging (like it being a funny skit), it is going to detract from it, especially if the girls aren't really showing all that much fawning interest in you.

Ever see a rap video where the guy is in the pool with a bunch of hot girls around, but NONE of the hot girls look like they are actually into the guy? Every time I have seen a video like that I've shaken my head going, "Tryhard wannabe player. You know after the video is done he went around macking on all those chicks and they all rejected him except for one of the ugly backup dancers."

Then you watch a video by 50 Cent or whoever and the girls look genuinely attracted to him, chasing him, while he stays cool or unsure about them.

You can even see both examples in one video... compare the chick's reaction to BIG vs. all the chicks in the jacuzzi with Diddy and think who's the actual real player:

It's pretty obvious...

It's not just "hot girls as an ornament."

How they're behaving and the context of how women happen to see them with you matters.

I did not think of it like that LOL. I was thinking thinking way to mechanically. After reading this some of the posts look so cringey.

I put up some cropped photos like you suggested. With your context in mind it looks much less forced.

I would think that social proof with girls is still stronger than social proof with dudes. Unless you’re seen with ONLY girls, then it looks kind of gay - right?

If she's trying to get you to kiss her, it's preselection.

If she keeps flirting with you, it's preselection.

What about ambiguity? I have a pic with a good looking girl (friend) smiling & touching me while I look at the camera.

Could that increase some mental investment in the girls that don’t know our relationship

If is looks too try hard on your end, it has the opposite effect. I see tons of guys doing this, and you can tell their intent (showing off) on their vibe... usually posing and filming themselves... and trying to get the girls to pose with him.

It is not pre-selection. It is low value behaviour.
