Alright, let's get this straight: I've said before that my texting gets me by. It does, I've had relationships with my texting as it is, I've gotten dates with my texting as it is, I've gotten laid with my texting as it is, (hell one time all it was, was texting... sexting, if you will
) and I've got the field reports to show it. Yet every time I come back here and give an example or quote a text conversation I've had, someone here without fail, always says my texting is shit and gives some alternative advice. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not so much. Thing is, usually what's being called out as "bad texting" on my part is pretty much word for word something I was told here on the forums or found here or read in an article on the home page! (I'm not mad, I'm actually laughing as I write this
). I suspect there's a lot of different ideas of what makes a good text regardless of all there is to study here. Maybe there's just been a failure to communicate.
Maybe we start a fire with this one as the boards culture changes with new people joining up (if you're new, clarify this so no one jumps at ya thinking your an overly confident newbie, as I have before), maybe we start a flame war (let's not. Please holster your ego before joining the class
). Maybe we learn something new here (as I hope to do
).
So tell me, what would you consider good texting? Where did you learn this? I want your source if you can provide it. (Unless you've got a report or are an elder, I'm not taking your word on experience as a valid answer. You learned it somewhere. Put up or shut up
