Calls & Texts What happened?

So I got this girl's number after church one evening and seeing how July 4 is around the corner, I decided to invite her out. I got her number and the next day, I shot her this:

Me: You will never guess what i’m doing right now. it would blow your mind like a thousand suns going supernova all at once!
Her: haha what?
Me: I’m watching grass grow you?
Her: Getting ready to go to a tupperware party.

I texted her the next morning with this:

Me: How was the tupperware love affair? I hope you didn't bring the house down and involve the police.
Her: It was good. Got a few replacements of some things I have that broke.
Me: So you have a thing for tupperware. I know what to steal now if I decide rob you. I'll leave all your exotic diamonds and gems untouched. Uh oh!

It's been six hours since that last text to her and the party's in about three hours. Obviously I'm not going to be shooting her an invite text to come out, but I'd still like to dissect what happened here?

I'm assuming my only contingency now is to wait a week/month to ping her again.

Assuming you just met her, and even if not, the texts seem un-necessary and needy. While the rules here don't have to be set in stone, texting is generally only good for meets and not rapport building. I think you should be more up-front with your intentions and invite her out, the rest just seems like fluff.
