What is Awkward

The title says it all.

What does it mean to you the word awkward? What and how does a socially awkward people act and look like to you?

My friend just last night described this girl I was fucking as awkward and I realize that maybe despite all this time I am too.

So think about the latest awkward person you ran into or a friend you have, describe in vivid detail what makes them so and if you can offer a solution to mitigate these mannerisms if you were them.

Awkward is doing incongruent things to one's natural personality, or saying/doing things that do not meet the current mood/place/atmosphere etc..

To add to fpt's definition, I'd like to mention that the "feeling" of awkwardness is "uncomfortable." If people feel uncomfortable after something you said or did, then it means it was probably awkward.

i like that but also there's different ways of being uncomfortable. For example you could be feeling great and a girl feels uncomfortable because she's intimidated in a good way and is trying to be impressive vs uncomfortable and trying to bail lol

Haha, well I wouldn't quite describe that as uncomfortable! That's just "nervous" more than anything. You're uncomfortable when you're in a situation that you don't want to be in. You're nervous because you're anxious/excited about something or someone.

But definitions can be construed in different ways, so we won't get into semantics!
