You meet a girl and then things are going fine between you and you suggest an instant date and she agrees but says she has only 20 mins and needs to go after that. Would you still pursue her, take her for coffee, drinks etc and eventually try to bounce her back to your place? Or would you just give up in the beginning knowing that she hasn't got enough time.

Really depends...sometimes if it is a question of her walking to class/work then "mind if I walk with you?" will work provided you have her engaged and talking. That is when you seed the idea of what the next date will entail and get her anticipation up for it. Better make it an activity date though...
It could also be that she just wants to let you down softly. get her number on a high note, and give it a try once after if you don't have a date agreed on.
