Where to get STD Tests?

Hey Gents!

No, I don't have any symptoms of anything, I just want to be sure I don't have anything. I tried looking up some places in SD, and they want like $200+, which sounds crazy. Is there a way to get much cheaper tests?

There is often a free clinic in poorer areas of town (typically in urban black communities where I'm from). Also if you are enrolled in college many times there are free STD screenings scheduled throughout the year.

Also if you're insured under your doctor you can often times get them to do a simple bloodtest that will tell you what you need to know.

Its a good idea to get tested at least once a year. Twice if you're not using condoms. Immediately when you show signs of having an STD.

In addition to what Rob said, you'll want to check out your local Planned Parenthood.

A girl I was dating a while ago developed some vagina problems (thankfully, it turned out to be nothing more than an abnormal UTI) but she went to urgent care and got tested and based on what she was feeling/experiencing it was recommended that I get tested during the 1-2 weeks that she was waiting on her results. Anyway, I got tested at Planned Parenthood and with insurance there were no out of pocket costs, without insurance I believe it would've $80 for basic STD testing.

Most campuses, especially 4-year state universities tend to offer discounted (if not, free) medical exams and such. Pretty sure prices will vary state-by-state but $200 does seem a bit high.

I'll check my old college campus, then check out Planned Parenthood(or maybe just try every major college in the area until one does it haha).
