Why do people listen in to your conversations?

So, something odd struck me today.. not the first time it has happened.

I was seated next to a mature couple, and struck a conversation with them (for me getting to know new people is natural). What I noticed is that in that cafe multiple people were listening in despite that the subject was not that very interesting, basically I was explaining the local tourist traps, and asking about their homecountry. But the vibe was good, because I bring the vibe with my swashbuckling ways and I have a way with words.

I have noticed this before as well when seated alone with for instance a friend and discussing deep politics that people forget their own table and are eavesdropping. It always happens when I am talking with that guy who is actually very imposing physically.

So I see this as a certain investment these people show, but why? What is the fuss about to get distracted and actively focused on one other. Because I did see investment in their eyes

Chicks (particularly) are like CCTV.
they are *always* watching and eavesdropping . That’s why I talk openly on my phone with my buddies about my dating life when I’m around chicks in public places.
They think I’m ignorant to them listening in.

I give them all the info they need to hang around me after the call has ended and wait for me to open them

or for then open me in a indirect way.

It’s a good con-game that one.

Some people have nothing in their lives beyond TikTok and gossip. The second something interesting appears on their lap, they'll usually latch on.
