Why do women dart back and forth with eye contact?

I tried to find a gif and couldn't.

You're making eye contact with a girl and she's staring somewhat intensely at you, while her eyes quickly move the short distance between your eyes. Her eyes change which eye they're focusing on rapidly, back and forth.

Is it an attraction thing?

Sometimes I get this after a question that could set a frame, as if they're trying to get the entire picture of my face for micro-expression reactions, or something. A bartender I work with tells me he does this exact thing, except he stares at people's mouths to read their reaction.

foggy,

I thought it might be, but didn't want to flatter myself too much.

If that's it, I'll escalate in some way or move the girl next time they do this on me. Been happening all the time recently.

Sidenote: to gauge micro-expressions, focus more on the area in the middle of the face where the cheek muscles envelope mouth and nose rather than eyes. A lot of emotions are driven from that area, eyebrows are one as well. Eyes are easy to spot on periphery because humans are good at detecting changes there (squinting, wide opening, blinking).

Guys,

Yall need to chill out Haha. I think you guys are forgetting this is how some people make eye contact, they look at both eyes, switching back and forth. Watch Megan Markle in the show suits or watch Ben Affleck in batman v Superman. Some people don't know what to do so they just keep looking at both eyes, I have guy friends that do this to me as well, that's just hot they make eye contact, not cos they're attracted to me

Gave 2 examples to prove my point.

Obviously can mean that a girl is attracted when she does it. But u generalized and said its "ultra reliable" when it's really not ultra reliable at all

this is not how some people make eye contact. this behavior is subconsciously driven and cannot be done consciously

you jumped to too big of a conclusion..

eye darters care about what you think, meaning they view you as equal or higher value than them

oh ya? so what did you try implementing every time you've noticed women displaying this behavior towards you, and what were the results?

You can't consciously choose to dart back and forth with your eyes.... okay man!

You said heaps more but all I'm gonna say is I am out! No need to waste my time with this

I mean, it could go a couple of ways.

Fog, I think it's pretty hard to argue that you can't consciously dart between both eyes. I'm sure that it CAN be subconscious, and stem from a girl's conscious thought, "what's he thinking???" without her realizing it. Why wouldn't it also be able to be done consciously, in an effort to increase intensity of the eye contact - or a slew of other reasons?

I think it's pretty black and white thinking to try and say it's ONLY one way or the other.

Some people don't know what to do so they just keep looking at both eyes, I have guy friends that do this to me as well, that's just hot they make eye contact, not cos they're attracted to me

Marcellus, I mean, CLEARLY your friends are in the closet - you're one hot motherfucker and I can't wait until the girl you're with stops playing goalie (;

In all seriousness, that's interesting. My guy friends do not do that, but that's just my data pool. Good to know.

Anyways, I think it might be a fine exercise to go and test this in-field. I still haven't had an opportunity to since posting this - eye darting isn't too common of a phenomena. When I do get a chance I'll be sure to circle back and let you guys know, I hope y'all do the same!
