Advice on Daygame Openers in Foreign Country

Hey guys,

So I'm living in Eastern Europe. Have B1 level of the language but am a native English speaker. Most of you mentioned in one of my previous questions that indirect openers are the best option for day game. So, what would be examples of that? Asking for recommendations, for example? The problem wish spontaneous situational openers here is the language barrier/cultural differences; people don't do small talk here so I could imagine girls being confused and freaked out. Also, I think a large majority of them wouldn't understand a situational opener in English. Then, my B1 level of their language usually isn't good enough to use spontaneous situational openers. So, I feel that I should use a canned opener. Either indirect or direct.

I've gotten a few girlfriends just from asking directions and then transitioning to normal conversations after. Also from direct. Seems like direct could make more sense here given that communication could be an issue. She needs to know why I'm approaching/talking to her. If it's direct then it's clear. Would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks

“Do you speak english?” and then transition into either regular conversation or direct.

If, after she’s spent some time attempting to communicate in English, she asks if you can speak her language, then you can start speaking her language. She’ll be impressed.

If she’s near-A1 or better, go back to English after that, only now supplemented with the occasional translation of a misunderstood word or phrase to keep conversation moving.

Think you’re already doing the hard part by speaking the local language? Learning more about the local history, economics etc. of the region can also help prolong conversations with the more conservative women. Otherwise is just regular game -no?
