Some possible options...

- Tank top if you got some muscle mass to show off
- Take good fitting shirts and roll up the sleeves and unbutton some extra top buttons without an undershirt
- Regular old graphic t-shirts (try to get them as fitted rather than modern fit)
- Denim jacket, rolled up sleeves, light and airy white deep v-neck cotton shirt underneath, loose fit jeans
- Shirtless!

Just make sure that the clothes fit and that they are comfortable.

Good points Ross! I've studied fashion over the past few years and have to say, your points are spot on!

Always try to wear fitted clothing, no shirts showing under collared/plaid shirts that are buttoned up, v-necks look better than normal t-shirts, get clothes/accessories that look different than the average guy, like cardigans, scarves, jackets, chains, earrings, watches, rings, shades, etc.

Cheers,
Garrett

Well the only problem i have is the love handles they are really noticeable when im wearing a more fitted shirt.

Any advice on what necklaces and jewelry to weak? Preferably stuff that gives me a kind of edgy image. And Sal, I would start working out before upgrading your fashion. Otherwise, the clothes you buy won't fit once you get down to your ideal weight and will ruin the whole close fitting idea. I know it sucks, but you gotta work on that first.

Yeah I did have that thought on the back of my head. I am losing weight now ( used to weigh 304 now I'm at 255 pounds and counting) I did have a cool jacket but now it is getting to big and loose. I'll workout first then buy clothes thanks :)

Pendants are great, as are rings, watches and wrist cuffs. As for necklaces go, it really depends on the look you are going for. Leather cords are great for a more relaxed look while iron, steel and silver chains are good for a harder, more metropolitan look. If you are looking for a refined feel, go for a silver or gold chain. If you wear it under your shirt and it has a medium gauge, you can get away with just a chain by itself, but if you are wearing it on top of a t-shirt or thermal, you will want to stick with pendants.

Tungsten rings are fantastic for adding a bit of edge, especially with long sleeve shirts. The longer the sleeve, the more impact a ring will have. If you are wearing a t-shirt, it won't be too noticeable, but if you are wearing a thermal or long sleeve dress shirt (especially a darker one), people's eyes are drawn to the ring and it adds a lot of depth to your appearance.

With both rings and necklaces, try to find something that has some sort of personal significance to you. Not only will you feel more confident while wearing them, if a girl asks about your ring or necklace (which they will), you can tell her the story behind it, which automatically signals to her that there is more to you than meets the eye.

The idea isn't necessarily to buy fitted clothing. The idea is to buy clothing that fits. Fitted clothes are better for people who are in good shape or who are really skinny. However, you want to stay away from baggy clothes as that will accentuate your weight (or for skinny guys, your lack of it.) Ideally, you want your clothes to skim your body without being overly tight. If your love handles are showing, it's too tight. I wouldn't spend too much on clothes right now, but do make sure that you buy things that fit.

Enigma,

Great advice man, some of which I've yet to hear of until now :). The point about wearing a ring with longer sleeves makes sense as the eyes will be drawn more towards the hands with long sleeves, as your arms won't be showing.

My question for you is, what's wrong with wearing a chain outside of your shirt? I used to wear a silver linked chain a while back and this guy randomly asked me why I was wearing it. I was a bit confused because a lot of guys wear them and I think they look perfectly fine in terms of fashion. It is best to match the type of jewellery with the rest of your accessories so if you are wearing gold earrings and a gold watch, don't wear a silver chain. You've stated that you shouldn't wear a chain outside your shirt in general, but why?

Nothing wrong with wearing a chain outside your shirt if it has a pendant on it. In fact, that's how I wear mine almost all the time. However, wearing a chain by itself often has a way of screwing up the lines of your clothing, while wearing it underneath your shirt adds a great accent. That said, if you find one that works well for you, by all means, go for it. Fashion is like art. It's all about following the rules until you understand why they are the way they are. At that point, you can break them with impunity because you'll understand what makes fashion work. You won't have to worry about wearing something that looks stupid because you will have developed visual judgement of what looks good.

Any good online resources for necklaces or kinds of wristbands?

When I lived in Europe a lot of mens stores sold different kinds of beads and bracelets for a few euro each which I tended to stack up.

I'd like a nice chain or a few new bracelets but stores around me here in the US don't seem to sell much.

Any ideas?

Amazon is the only online store that I use for that kind of thing. If you want good necklaces, check Buckle. You can often find some really good ones priced between $5-15. Same applies to wristbands, although Rue 21 surprisingly has some good stuff in that department. Once you start looking at more expensive stuff, I have no idea what to tell you as far as specific stores go.

Re: STICKIED: Affordable fashion?

These clothes have worked out for me, prefer a wardrobe consisting of a lot of blacks and greys.

-Levis 514 jeans, can get these in many colors/styles. I have at least 3 pairs of 514s, fit great.
-Banana Republic has a great clearance section. Have gotten steal button downs for $30 and plain t-shirts for less than $10.
-Polo long sleeve thermals from the mall are great because they're like $25 and look great under t-shirts in the winter

My most success comes at consignment stores in Philly.
-Burberry sweater from the early 2000s I got in November for $30
-Sharp polo plain dark grey sweater with tags for $20. (Polo you got to be careful with. The best Polo items are the ones that you can't find at the Polo section in Macy's.)
-Various button downs for around $20 (Barney's, CK, Burberry)

Anyone heard of/uses jack threads? I saw an ad for it and I thought this was exactly what this thread is all about. I haven't signed up and I don't know much about it, but it looks promising.

I'm a member (it used to be invite only, but I'm not sure about now), and I've never bought anything from them. Yes, their stuff is discounted, but it's still pretty expensive and a large portion of their selection is pretty crappy. That said, if you want an invite, I'd be happy to send you one.

I don't think you need an invite anymore, but thanks. I signed up just to check it out, the worst thing that happens is I get a fresh look on fashion but don't buy anything.

Something that I've noticed about my fashion is that it changes drastically from fall and winter and the spring and the summer.

For the fall and winter, I like darker colors and more northern style. But for the spring and summer, I usually wear more colorful clothes and its more southern. We call it "fratty" down here, as douchy as that sounds

I'm a skinny white dude, and honestly, the biggest difference between us is that you can get away with slightly more flamboyant clothing than I can (Brighter colors, crazy patterns, etc). Otherwise, it's not really any different. Obviously don't go overboard, but the added flexibility gives you more options for peacocking. For instance, you might be able to pull off this shirt (http://www.amazon.com/TheLees-Casual-St ... 7&sr=1-132) whereas, I have NO chance at looking good wearing that.

Hajiwon, I probably couldn't point you towards any places, but I know that the same basic concepts apply:

- Wear clothes that hug the frame but don't constrict it.
- Aim to look slightly overdressed for the occasion (Credit to Franco for this tip).
- Make sure that the outfit as a whole looks good.
- Go for clothes that will last a while at a good price as opposed to brand names.
- Get your clothes tailored. If you find something that you like at a good deal, but it's a size too large, go to a tailor and have him bring it in so it fits nicely.

Small tip which may be overlooked by some: when wearing polo shirts, oxfords, button downs and any other kind of shirts be aware that 'stripes' across the body will make you perceivable wider.

Lastly for finding unique items Etsy is a great website. Especially awesome pieces for men and women into video games or any type of community. Be weary not to over do it. The only novelty item I wear is a Bioshock Infinite inspired necklace which is always covered up.

Do you happen to have a picture of the necklace? I'd love to see it!
