American Imperial Decline vs. Roman Imperial Decline

You asked my opinion.

Then you write a response telling me my opinion is incorrect.

Then informing me of I guess what the correct opinion should be.

I am not interested in debating the petty politics of the crumbling Anglo-American empire.

Nor of being accused with tired progressive attack words like 'normalizing', which already lost their bite half a decade ago.

Whether you want to elect a reformer like Trump hopes he is or a steward like Biden actually was, all you get is either a slight slowing down of the collapse (reformer / reformer wannabe) or the even march toward it (steward).

Don't worry; you have nothing to fear from any reforms (whether or not you consider them that; with your politics I imagine they must be "horrifying reactionary fascist terror" something or other -- whatever buzzwords the BBC is using now; I haven't followed the news for a while) Donald Trump is attempting.

Tell me, how has it fared historically for other leaders who came to power attempting to reform their crumbling civilizations?

How fared Agis IV, Cleomenes III, Gaius Marius, Pertinax, or John Cantacuzene? In the end, the elites always win; the society is maintained on its doomed trajectory; and collapse occurs more or less on schedule.

So shall it be for your beloved Empire.

I don't know if Trump will succeed in slowing the collapse of the Empire a bit.

He might.

But there is no one to succeed him, and after him will continue the march of stewards shepherding the twilight of the Empire.

You will have the stewards you long for, and the inevitable result of their stewardship, too.

Should you choose to respond, I challenge you to respond with something other than MSM buzzwords, tired accusations, and emotion-laden talking points.

Are you capable of engaging in complex geopolitical conversations without resorting to parroting the hysterical brain-slop force-fed to average-IQ-and-below masses?

My guess is "no."

But I'd be glad to be proven wrong!

Sounds almost like you consider yourself one of this elite by the way you talk! It's nice to think that here on GC we're somehow above other folk but we're not all that different. So where should I be informing myself of global affairs if the media (RTE, BBC, Sky) I often stumble upon is so inaccurate?

You're saying you're not interested in debating the petty politics but if you jump to the idea that we all agree that Trump is a reformer then I'm afraid we have to! That's a snuck premise on your part, and one that the other posters here may not have noticed.

I mentioned that Trump raised taxes for the bottom 95%? If you genuinely wanted to convince someone that they're wrong, wouldn't it have been better for you to have addressed that? But instead you chose to mock my choice of words? How does raising taxes for the poor help reform America? Trump also fought against raising he minimum wage. How does that help the masses? Over 2 million people lost their health insurance during Trump's first term? How are these things helping in stopping the march towards the collapse? Oh, and the tariffs... is that stopping the decline? That's another challenge for you to respond to?

He's not a reformer, he's a con man! Always has been. I mean he launched a cryptocoin scam on his own supporters two days before his inauguration! He doesn't stand for anything other than staying in power for as long as possible and maximising the attention he gets. He's been a democrat most of his life... supported Hillary when she ran for the senate... was always willing to do a u-turn on any opinion he claimed to have for money or attention. For some people (perhaps you) I honestly don't think there's any red line he could cross that would be too far.

Tucker is malicious spreader of conspiracy theories and Adventurer is one of his victims. Okay you were willing to give some mild criticism of Tucker above but Adventurer believed that leaders in Ukraine are on the USAID payroll. Do you believe that too?

Engaging online is all about answering one another's questions, as opposed to giving someone a lecture while saying I'm above discussing the details. You can make fancy historic references all you want, but I'm sorry I can't believe that Trump is a reformer just because some guy online (who seems knowledgeable in history) said so.

Trump is a conman, no one is disputing that. But he's also the only US president who started no new war, and is currently actively doing his best to stop the ones his predecessors foolishly started or funded

The fact that Euromaidan received funds from various american NGOs is an undisputed fact, not opinion. The Soros fundation on its own, put $ 5 billion on the table. Some members of the government were direct US agents. It's not even the first time the US forced a regime change in Ukraine, they were also behind the orange revolution in the 2000s. It happened in multiple ex-soviet countries, the US never hid it from the public. This is all publicly available information

@Dash of Englishness,

You're not capable of discussion at the level of this thread.

You need to be on Reddit screaming breathlessly about the "Donald Trump tax hike on 95% of people!" that hasn't arrived that the left wing think tanks were predicting in HuffPost.

I'm totally uninterested in any of these hysterical claims, whether from the political right or the political left. It's bunkum used to keep the masses occupied.

You, my friend, are the masses.

I will give you a suggestion though, and I mean this fully:

Run for office in the UK.

You a.) are passionate about your politics and b.) happen to hold all the CORRECT positions.

It would be a better gig than bus driving, pay you more, give you better status, and you'd get to argue with people all day and actually attract applause for it from your supporters (rather than get annoyed doing it on the bus).

I don't know how it is in your town, but if it's anything like the US the local government roles often have little or no competition for them. Pick a small role with little competition, represent your party of choice, do your thing with shouting down Trump and Trump allies in the UK government, then just every election cycle move up to a higher level role.

You are exactly the kind of individual who gets placed in government and I think you'd be content there.

It'd certainly be a better outlet for you than here.

I'm not passing any kind of judgment one way or the other by saying this, but anyone who thinks the US does not actively use regime change and global organizations to enrich itself via sweetheart deals internationally should probably start with Confessions of an Economic Hitman.

The simple fact is, humans build civilizations, and some of those civilizations become more powerful than others, and power structures within powerful civilizations become magnets to people who seek power themselves. They universally end up as amoral entities that seek to extract resources from outside themselves, take other entities as vassals, and keep potential adversaries off-balance, either with direct war or proxy warfare.

There is no solution to this.

There is no human system that is immune from this process.

No matter the system (communism vs. capitalism, democracy vs. theocracy vs. monarchy vs. oligarchy vs. aristocracy), the process is always the same, because it always involves humans, and humans simply are how they are.

It is basically just one of those things to accept about life, like how animal life all lives by consuming other living things: plants, fungus, other animals, etc. There is no way to stay alive as an animal without consuming life; there is no way to build a civilization that does not ultimately turn amoral and extractive if it wins the battle of civilizations.

@Dash of Englishness,

You're not capable of discussion at the level of this thread.
So because you're not capable of explaining why trump is a 'reformer' you resort to saying that I'm incapable of discussion, and anyone you disagree with is hysterical.

"Bunkum used to keep the masses occupied" - Now I'd have thought they're just trying to stay in business, but you're implying that there's some undefined secret group trying to keep us distracted. Sounds familiar!

"think tanks" - Ah man now you're using quite a few buzzwords yourself!

I'll leave you to continue self aggrandising.

I don't know what your problem is, whether it's autism or you were dropped on the head as a youth or what.

I tried being nice, I tried being FIRM, but you are just incapable of leaving it alone, and are insistent that this discussion focus on what YOU want it to focus on (petty partisan politics / the latest partisan rallying cry / me personally explaining stuff to you that could be explained by anyone else), and not what it is about (grand strategy geopolitics).

Further, you do it in a passive-aggressive, hostile way, after having already previously pissed plenty of people off with your past annoying posts and threads, getting reported many times, and us having repeated conversations about whether to ban you or not -- IIRC, you've had some temporary bans, too.

For the sake of posterity, I will address your points, which are not at all worth my time nor the point of this thread, then I will pronounce your sentence:

So because you're not capable of explaining why trump is a 'reformer' you resort to saying that I'm incapable of discussion, and anyone you disagree with is hysterical.

REFORMER = any individual who comes to government riding on the wings of "returning the nation/empire to earlier greatness", rolling back changes that have occurred over the past however many decades or centuries, claiming a return to the nation's original values. Reformers are always populists, supported by a groundswell of lower class individuals, and opposed by the majority of the elites, including most of the entrenched members of the government, much of the wealthy, academic institutions, and elite-controlled media.

It does not matter if you consider a reformer to be a "charlatan" or not; what matters for the mantle of "reformer" is if the individual matches enough of those qualities, and triggers the "outsider immune response" in the establishment that attempts to push out, imprison, or assassinate the reformer.

Like him or not, agree with his priorities or not, believe that he truly cares about (or is capable of) pulling off reforms or not, Donald Trump fits this mantle.

"Bunkum used to keep the masses occupied" - Now I'd have thought they're just trying to stay in business, but you're implying that there's some undefined secret group trying to keep us distracted. Sounds familiar!

If "staying in business" was Priority #1, we'd be seeing very different behavior from these media companies.

They are not "trying to stay in business." They actively hire political activists, many well steeped in Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, and have a vision for society they actively champion.

There is a journalist message board where journalists from all the top MSM rags discuss what story they are going to push during which week and specific language they are going to use to coordinate campaigns for maximum reach and cultural impact:

donald-trump-persuasion-5.jpg

Journalists are not "impartial third parties." They are activists. They view themselves as fighting the good fight against their political enemies: "fascists", "racists", "sexists", and other "-ists."

"think tanks" - Ah man now you're using quite a few buzzwords yourself!

Do you know where your heady claim, which you have repeated in at least three posts on this thread, comes from?

You don't even know that, do you?

You are just parroting the scuttlebutt on Reddit/Bluesky without even looking for the source, aren't you?

It originates with the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (here is the link), which is referred to as "a liberal think tank in Washington, D.C."

The analysis is bullshit, by the way, and no, I am not going to go into why. Find your own counter-analysis -- it is not worth my time to rebut every dumb claim from any group that wants to make claims about how New York will be underwater by 2012 or Donald Trump will trigger World War III by 2017 or whatever the F it is! Anyone can claim anything! The burden of proof is on the CLAIMANT, not "anyone who disagrees with the claimant"! Otherwise I can just claim anything I want and put the burden of proof on you to rebut it: "Dash of Englishness will lead the UK into war with Uzbekistan no later than 2029. If you say it isn't true, I need a complete and comprehensive rebuttal to my claim!"

Anyway, yeah -- nice attempt at a "gotcha", man (y)

Zero self-investigation, zero insight, zero critical thinking, basically asking Chase Amante to be your personal Google for you.

Keep digging that hole you're in though! It's looking pretty deep!

I'll leave you to continue self aggrandising.

Idiocy!

How low EQ do you have to be to think that not wanting to get drawn into low IQ "latest partisan politics hysteria du jour" is "self-aggrandizement"?

What is your emotional quotient, 3?

...

DASH OF ENGLISHNESS'S SENTENCE

As a result of repeated and aggravating low EQ posts that annoy everyone while @Dash of Englishness talks about how he gets into arguments with everybody and can't understand why he is constantly battling with everyone around him, the cherry on top now being him badgering me here and refusing to take a VERY LOUD hint, presumably because he is somehow mentally incapable of doing so, he has been placed upon the

Skilled Seducer Performance Improvement Plan™

From here on out, @Dash of Englishness is restricted to posting ONLY in the following places/ways:

  1. Creating Field Reports on the Field Reports Board, where he may chronicle his approaches, dates, and lays IN THE FIELD with women
  2. Creating a Journal on the Journals Board, where he may chronicle his field work and seduction improvements with women

He may not reply to others' posts on these boards. He may not participate in any of the other boards. He is now restricted by role to only post these two places.

@Dash of Englishness, once we have seen enough dedication from you as you endeavor to improve yourself as a SKILLED SEDUCER, and that you are obviously behaving in much more seductive, successful, socially savvy ways with women (than, at least I can say, you currently are with other men on this forum / the other people in your life, based on what you have been posting), we may consider restoring you to full member status.

I hope this serves as a wakeup call to you to stop living your life through pointless arguments with others and to instead get into the field and approach some (many) babes!

Warmly,
Chase

Yep.

There is always some asshole who wants to turn the conversation about meta-level history and geopolitics into his theories about how Bridgette Macron is actually a man.

Then the real stupidity starts and everyone gets all ornery.

Sad times... 😩
