Sure, I'll even post a thread on it in the future but it really all starts with lighting and the feel of the photo. Like it is not only enough to have a good photo done, it kind of needs to be done with the right lighting, effects, and angles. That makes ALL the difference. Next up, you need a lifestyle type of photographer, not really a professional one to get you a portrait done. In some ways, the photo has to be of quality but yell to her that you are a social guy who "gets it" and is living a fun life she would be lucky to be a part of..
The trick is, certain pics work for certain kinds of men. While some men can pull of a certain style in a pic, others cannot.
I'd really aim for a GQ vibe for most men though, it takes a certain lighting and photographer to do that. Unfortunately as I looked for those photos on the web, I could only find celebrities and people will claim it is because those men are famous so they're set, my point was more study the vibe, texture, and coloration of the photo, even temporarily ignore the model and focus more on lighting.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, it has to tell a story. I'll post more examples later but I'd say at least 50% of the photograph is the lightning, texture, and color placement.
Let me offer examples:
Like look at the pic below, high quality on a summer day but it yells that "I am a social guy with friends and we do cool shit, wanna join?"
