Hey everybody,
I haven't been posting much and honestly haven't been doing much with pick-up at all lately as I've been intensely focused on other parts of my life. However, I took some time today to check out the Boards while I was scrolling through numerous PMs and I noticed between PMs and posts that there's been an up-rise in people who are struggling with approach anxiety.
A really simple assignment that you can you use to get past many fears associated with approach anxiety, those such as;
The assignment is; wear two different shoes when you go out in public and as you go throughout your day pay attention to how many people notice them or make a remark. You'll be surprised at what you find. Also, throughout the day you'll be very self-critical about what people are thinking, etc. and you'll feel a lot of anxiety about it but you'll quickly make some startling realizations about yourself and others that will help you get past social anxiety.
I've done a couple variations of this, myself, as time has gone on;
- Laying down in a high traffic area like the mall, Walmart, the Bean in Chicago.
- I've drawn a swirly symbol on my forehead with a Sharpie
- I've walked around with my belt hanging out of two loops.
The point is you want to do things that draw attention to yourself (or at least you think they will) and go about your day so that you feel initial anxiety and then become comfortable over a short time. Your brain starts to realize that people don't care, most people don't even notice, and then the foundations of your anxiety disappear and you'll find your actual anxiety disappears shortly after that.
