I'm about to get a haircut soon, and I noticed recently that the way I act is completely incongruent with my hairstyle. Right now it looks too tame and meek especially considering I don't put gel in my hair. I have certainly changed my personality a lot over the years but somehow neglected my hair. That might be a main thing that turns off women and I'd like to change it. But I'm not sure what kind of hairstyle best fits my face and personality. I will be working in a Wall Street bank (Not as an IB intern, but a tech intern) this summer and I'm also concerned people won't take me seriously with my current hair. Here are some pictures for you to get an idea (First two are immediately after the haircut I usually get and third one is after growing for a little bit, and fourth one is when I should be getting a new haircut):

I also need to work out more, but I'm more looking for a short term (Possibly long term if it also fits with a more buff body) solution for slim men. Overall, the hair style should hopefully be tailored more towards wall street than kpop, like this guy:

You get the vibe. For my facial shape, what would you recommend?

Edit: If you need to see my face, I can PM you my face with good faith that you won't distribute it. Of course you aren't, I'm a guy and it's not nudes.

As an Asian American guy with straight hair, I can relate.

Straight hair is very versatile. Here are some cuts that I would suggest that have some edginess, but can still fit into a professional setting:

I forget the exact name for these styles, but the concept is that the sides are very close cropped to the head, something like a "1" or a "0" and the top is left a bit lengthy. This allows for a clean cut look, yet you have the length up top to balance the look. It's a nice hybrid look. Not too boyish, yet not too feminine.

Rusty, how often do you need to get a haircut with that kind of style? I've been thinking the main theme is to keep the sides and back short and keep decent length with the top and front, but I am starting to think you'd have to get a haircut frequently with that. Also, how do you gel your hair to look more like that?

Being stylish and keeping your image polished is something that requires some investment and some vigilance. That being said, you're probably looking at a cut every 3-4 weeks, at least, if not more, to maintain a decent look.

I know men who are very conscious about their looks who get cuts every 2 weeks. No joke. If not more often...

If you want to look fresh and keep a nice image for yourself, it takes investment. Just like you need to exercise regularly and eat right and keep other areas of your life sharp through maintenance and repetition, your hair is the same way.

It's definitely a time and money investment, but it's not that bad. I go in for a higher end haircut every once in a while to get a more seasoned barber's opinion on my hair, but once I have a good idea of the style I want, I just go to my local hair salon and be very descriptive and specific about what I want for my cut. It's nothing complicated, and the rest is up to my own styling methods and good hair product.

I use matte wax to style my hair. These hairstyles require some blow drying and hair product, preferably wax. If you need some extra hold, use some hair spray after styling, drying and applying product to get more stability. Gel has a much harder, rough texture. I prefer matte wax because it has a more natural look.
