I have a girl in my class who is cute and above average looking. Her boyfriend is fat and not that attractive.(Not trying to sound mean. I'm sure hes a cool dude and great boyfriend) This girl has shown interest in me by giving me gazes in class and shes nervous when I come around. (We've never met before) I'm not trying to brag but I look quite a bit better than her boyfriend. I'm not fat and I get chosen quite a bit by women without having to say a word.

I was wondering why some above average women like her date not so attractive guys? Also, I'm not trying to sound mean but I like to date women who's past boyfriends look somewhat. I don't like to be second to out of shape unattractive guys. Should I take that into consideration when deciding to pursue anything with a girl like this?

There's a huge list of possible reasons why. Maybe she settled because he was the best option she had out of all the guys in her social circle at the time, and maybe she was too shy and cautious to look outside of her circle. Maybe she has low self-esteem and doesn't realize how cute she is. Maybe he has an amazing personality. Maybe he has a fat penis. Maybe he saved her life. Maybe she's a heroin addict and he gives her steep discounts in exchange for sexual favors.

But at the end of the day, why do you care? If she seems interested in you, just go for it.

Some of the research I have read indicates that for women looks are most important for one night stands and casual flings but other qualities in men become a bit more important for relationships. This could include loyalty, potential provider, etc.
