Just looking at some stuff on Byronic Heroes on this site and around the internet, and one key component is obsessiveness. Sometimes it seems like it can be a good thing, because you're willing to do anything to get a girl and it can be charming. But sometimes it can clearly go too far and become creepy. I feel like there's a close line between being charming and then becoming creepy. Is it worth toeing that line? There can be a lot of social backlash I feel like if an interaction goes poorly.
Can it be a good tactic to go all out to get a girl? This would be chasing I think, but not really. You're not chasing after her, you're just going for it.
Take James Bond in Thunderball when going for Domino. He breaks his own boat to hop on hers. That's pretty overboard. And he's clearly interested in her every time they're together.
Or Edward Cullen in Twilight. Some girls may be swooning for him, while others think he's really creepy.
How to know when being a bit obsessive is going to help or when it's too much?
