Not sure if this should be in general instead but either way as the title suggests I've been reading through Casanova memoir and to be honest it's been a slog and I'm slowly losing interest... No disrespect to one of the greatest seducers of all time but with school coming up soon and knowing how much knowledge this book holds. I'm wondering if you guys know any parts in the book which any aspiring seducer can learn from.

I'd also be interested if anyone has read it.

I read up to vol 15.

One of the few quotes I liked:

"Haller was a good poet of the Pindaric kind; he was also an excellent statesman, and had rendered great services to his country. His morals were irreproachable, and I remember his telling me that the only way to give precepts was to do so by example. "

I also enjoyed reading of his prison escape, idk what volume. Took guts. And funny that he grew out his pinky fingernail while imprisoned so that he could scrape the wax out of his ears. The escapades with the girl in the nunnery was real exciting...
But casanova is mostly only that: excitement and adventure. I dont think he's worth reading for the sake of learning; only for the sake of enjoyment. He's the kind of man who lies to himself and has no core. He suffers but he refuses to admit that he suffers. But of course he lived well and... I suppose passionately.

Edit: ah yes! I remember. The nun in the convent who delivered the secret message to Casanova with three options of meeting together. Casanova chose the "correct " one. Was a really good social calibration learning moment for me when I read it. Actually there are quite a few of those throughout- nuggets that reveal human nature. Let me find where that story begins...I'll post back.

Edit 2:
~location 1205 of 1333 in kindle book of Volume 7: Venice. Laura, Casanova's love, becomes a nun at a convent. Casanova begins attending masses there, a complete stranger to everyone. This is where the beautiful and witty nun M. M. notices him.
