Yo, question for all you History nuts out there.

I have one more gen ed to take before it's all Psych & Neuroscience classes for me. I'm taking it over summer and don't know which to pick right now.

I've narrowed it down to:

World History to 1500

Ancient Greece and Rome

The Ancient Mediterranean City

History of War

History of Modern Sexualities

All but Greece & Rome are online, but that one has the shittiest time for work hours.

Which one do you find most interesting/insightful?
Let me know what you dudes think, por favor.

All of that is awesome.

But Greece and Rome imo would be the most interesting. You will get to learn about.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Triumvirate

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caligula

You will get to learn about Greek Philosophers such as Socrates and Plato.

I could make the list go on and on. Rome and Greece had a gigantic impact on the modern world both in the aspects of intellectualism and innovations. TAKE THIS ONE!!!

I would go for Greece and Rome too!

They had so many good stories and legends. They stick with you...

And you start to identify the references to them everywhere you look.

I took a History and Thought of the Western Man Course that, effectively, was a World History to 1500 class just broken down into an advanced 2-year high school class. Didn't go towards my college credit but was a college-level course and it was amazing; absolutely cannot go wrong with that one.

I've also taken Grecian and Roman history classes and really enjoyed them as well; especially the military tactics and political side of things because they impact out modern society.

Ancient Mediterranean will, more or less, be similar to Grecian and Roman history but with less emphasis on Rome and Greece. Not worth it, IMO.

History of War; I sat in on 3 of these classes with a professor I was building rapport with and the class was painfully boring. Mostly case studies and rote memory type of stuff.

History of Modern Sexuality; All the classes I've taken that touch on sexuality seem to have a bias and reinforce a single point over and over and over.

Your best bet would be History til 1500 or Roman/Grecian stuff. However, I have a strong affinity for Grecian/Roman/Spartan history and an affinity for the Renaissance in the realm of history. The only other class I'd recommend you take, if at all possible in your educational career, is on Feudal Japan.

Damn, sounds like Greece and Rome would be the move, but if I took that I'd have to give up some of the best shifts at my server job..

World History to 1500 would definitely be my 2nd choice. Once upon a time I took it a few weeks before dropping it.
Then again that's online, so it'll more or less be me reading the text extensively then getting tested on it, where as Greece & Room is in a classroom...tough.

Thanks for the feedback dudes.

Mate...I cant agree enough. Greco Roman history is the BEST thing you can learn.

If you find it a bit too much, just start with Greece, since a lot of the Roman stuff started from Greece.

Seriously, dont miss this chance.
